Acquired digital fibrokeratoma is a benign fibrous tumor usually located on the toes and fingers. A 63-year-old man with an acquired giant plantar fibrokeratoma is described. He presented with an asymptomatic exophytic nodule of ten years duration; there is no history of trauma to the site. It measured 15x10x5mm and was located on the plantar foot proximal to the third toe. Excisional biopsy established the diagnosis of fibrokeratoma. Giant acquired fibrokeratoma, has been described in 16 patients including ours: three women and 13 men. They are located on either the upper extremity (one man) o

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) and the most common symptoms include fever, dry cough, dyspnea, fatigue, anorexia, ageusia, and anosmia. Cutaneous manifestations are less common and we share our experience with an otherwise healthy and asymptomatic young man. The patient presented with painless acrocynosis of the left toes which progressed to desquamation by day 16 of disease onset. Disease progression is documented via multiple photographs that portray progression of disease and subsequent resolution over approximat

Palmoplantar lichen planus is a rare variant of lichen planus with diverse clinical presentations, making the diagnosis challenging. We present an unusual case of a young patient who presented with asymptomatic non-pruritic flat-topped pigmented plaques on his left sole and no other lesions elsewhere. Histology was consistent with lichen planus. We emphasize a high index of suspicion owing to varied clinical presentation and the necessity of a biopsy for diagnosis.

The lower extremity presents several challenges from a dermatologic standpoint: there are different anatomic areas that not only vary from a stratum corneum thickness and histologic standpoint but are also subject to trauma that is unique (shoe gear, gait cycle). Attention to appropriate diagnosis and management is always warranted but should be especially vigilant to those treating issues of the lower extremity. This article reviews diagnosis and treatment of the most common skin and nail conditions of the foot and ankle.

BACKGROUND: Toenail onychomycosis is a common disease with limited treatment options; treatment failure and relapse are frequently encountered. Many patients experience long-standing disease affecting multiple toenails, with substantial discomfort and pain. Although some patients might prefer a topical therapy, efficacy with ciclopirox nail lacquer has been disappointing.
METHODS: Efinaconazole topical solution, 10% is the first topical triazole antifungal agent specifically developed for the treatment of onychomycosis. This paper reviews the preclinical and clinical data on efinaconazole top

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a neurocutaneous disorder with seven subtypes;segmental NF-1 is characterized by neurofibromas and or café-au-lait macules in one or more dermatomes, primarily the thorax and abdomen. We present the rare case of a 36-year-old African-American female with isolated, multiple soft nodules in a linear configuration on the plantar and dorsal surfaces of the left foot.
CONCLUSION: This is the first report of isolated segmental NF-1 in a unique linear pattern confined to the L5 dermatome.

Recently, there has been a resurgence of interest in potential phototherapy technologies for the local treatment of bacterial and fungal infection. Currently, onychomycosis is the principle disease that is the target of these phototherapies in podiatric medicine. Some of these technologies are currently undergoing in vitro and in vivo trials approved by institutional review boards. The three light-based technologies are ultraviolet light therapy, near infrared photo-inactivation therapy, and photothermal ablative antisepsis. Each of these technologies have markedly dissimilar mechanisms of act

Granuloma annulare is a palisading granulomatous skin disease which may be generalized, localized, perforating, or subcutaneous. Subcutaneous granuloma annulare is self-limiting, affecting infants and children, with typical postnatal onset. Here we report a patient with congenital clinical manifestations.
