Predictors of influenza vaccination among Iranian pregnant women based on a combined Health Belief Model and Theory of Planned behavior.

Influenza poses a significant public health risk, particularly for pregnant women due to physiological and immunological changes. Despite strong recommendations and proven safety of influenza vaccination, uptake remains suboptimal. This study aimed to identify predictors of influenza vaccination among Iranian pregnant women using an integrated Health Belief Model (HBM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted among 630 pregnant women attending urban and rural health centers and private clinics in Fasa and Shiraz, Iran. Participants were selected us

The Effects of a Reproductive Health Voucher Program on Out-of-Pocket Family Planning and Safe Motherhood Service Expenses: A Yemeni Study.

Background/Objectives: Using healthcare vouchers mitigates the financial burdens of low-income individuals, therefore enhancing mothers' satisfaction and encouraging service utilization. In Yemen, reducing financial barriers results in marked improvement in reproductive health services utilization for mothers and their newborns. Such financial strain can be addressed through reproductive health vouchers, which reduce out-of-pocket expenses of family planning, pregnancy, birth, postnatal care and neonatal care. This study compares the Safe Motherhood and Family Planning Voucher Program in the L

Greater need but reduced access: a population study of planned and elective surgery rates in adult mental health service users.

AIMS: Timely access to surgery is an essential part of healthcare. People living with mental health (MH) conditions may have higher rates of chronic illness requiring surgical care but also face barriers to care. There is limited evidence about whether unequal surgical access contributes to health inequalities in this group. METHODS: We examined 1.22 million surgical procedures in public and private hospitals in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, in 2019. In a cross-sectional study of 76,320 MH service users aged 18 and over, surgical procedure rates per 1,000 population were compared to rates

Examining US commercial health plans' use of The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review's reports in specialty drug coverage decisions.

BACKGROUND: The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) has emerged in a visible role in US health care. However, it is unclear to what extent US commercial health plans use ICER value assessments in their specialty drug coverage decisions. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relationship between ICER's reported cost-effectiveness ratios (CERs) and coverage restrictiveness. Also, to examine the frequency with which plans have cited ICER in their coverage policies and to investigate how frequently health plans adjusted their drug coverage criteria in the 12 months after ICER's assessments. MET

Efficacy of a web-based women's health survivorship care plan for young breast cancer survivors: a randomized controlled trial.

PURPOSE: Breast cancer survivorship care plans (SCP) have limited content addressing women's health issues. This trial tested if young breast cancer survivors who receive a web-based, women's health SCP were more likely to improve on at least one of the four targeted issues (hot flashes, fertility-related concerns, contraception, and vaginal symptoms) compared to attention controls. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial recruited female survivors ages 18-45 at diagnosis, 18-50 at enrollment, completed primary cancer treatment, and had a significant women's health issue: moderate or higher fe

Rapid assessment of health needs and resettlement plans among Hurricane Katrina evacuees--San Antonio, Texas, September 2005.

Hurricane Katrina struck the coastal regions of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi on August 29, 2005, resulting in one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history. The city of New Orleans, Louisiana, was further damaged by severe flooding when major levees broke and released water from Lake Pontchartrain. Residents were evacuated to neighboring states and cities, including San Antonio, Texas. On September 3, 2005, approximately 12,700 evacuees arrived in San Antonio and were housed in four primary evacuation centers (ECs). Although many evacuees in San Antonio soon found other ac

The planning of a community health model project in an area in Egypt (El Qalyub) with concomitant occurrence of S. mansoni and S. haematobium.

In addition to knowing about the tolerance, efficacy, and safety of a new antischistosomal agent, public health authorities also have a critical need to know the degree to which population-based chemotherapeutic programmes can potentially reduce disease transmission and morbidity. Rational nationwide planning on a cost-effective basis is impossible without such information. Thus the Qalyub Project, a major collaborative research effort by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the US Center for Disease Control and Tulane University, has undertaken to measure the impact of alternate control strategie

The Dermatologist is Out? Assessment of Dermatologists in Ontario Accepting Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) Referrals for Hair Loss Evaluation.

BACKGROUND: The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) insures appointments for the assessment and diagnosis of hair loss, or alopecia. Although anecdotal, discussion suggests that, increasingly, dermatologists decline to see referrals of this nature. There has been a lack of objective surveillance to determine the proportion of dermatologists in practice who accept referrals for this concern. OBJECTIVES: This study investigated the proportion of dermatologists in Ontario accepting OHIP referrals for hair loss. Secondary objectives included wait times, consultation fees for non-OHIP visits, and
