Congenital hydronephrotic transformation complicated by obstructive pyelonephritis with intact renal function in children exhibited association with some antigens of the major histocompatibility system and their combinations, changes in immunity and nonspecific resistance. Marked and stable shifts in immune reactivity give grounds for inclusion of immunomodulating drugs in combined treatment of the above patients.

We report the case of a 35-year-old man who presented with fever, diarrhea, and a left abdominal mass. Diagnostic studies confirmed Crohn disease and revealed an abdominal mass obstructing the left ureter with hydroureter and hydronephrosis. Hydronephrosis should be managed no differently in the newborn than in any other age group: UPJ obstruction should be surgically corrected as soon as the diagnosis is made. Unfortunately, the diagnosis of obstruction in the newborn with hydronephrosis is difficult and the traditional tests used in the older child or adult are not valid. Because newborn hydronephrosis is a relatively benign condition, surgical intervention should be delayed until the diagnosis of obstruction is proven. A protocol for evaluating the newborn with hydronephrosis is presented.

The aim was to assess the role that fetal bladder size has in the determination of fetal hydronephrosis. Forty-three fetuses were evaluated for fetal hydronephrosis in the second trimester of pregnancy. We investigated postoperative hydronephrosis in 50 patients (100 ureter) undergoing radical hysterectomy for uterine cervical cancer from Jan. 1989 to Dec. 1991 at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Nagasaki University Hospital. Congenital solitary kidney with hydronephrosis is a rare anomaly. Five cases including 4 boys and 1 girl were detected to have this disease in the last 3 years. Abdominoscrotal hydrocele is a rare entity with unclear etiology which may be diagnosed with general examination and ultrasound imaging. During examination it may misinterpreted as acute urinary retention of the bladder (globe-like) especially if associated with hydronephrosis. It should be treated surgically. Here we present a case of left abdominoscrotal hydrocele with accompanying left grade 2 and right grade 1 hydronephrosis.
