We report the case of a 7-month-old girl with atypical oculo-facio-cardio-dental syndrome (OFCD). A novel de novo pathogenic mutation in the BCL6 interacting co-repressor gene (BCOR) (c.4540C>T; p.Arg1514*), was identified on the X chromosome. This case expands the phenotype of OFCD as it is the first report of a case presenting with craniosynostois, temporal hypertrichosis, supraorbital grooving, and underdevelopment of the midface.

A 13-year-old Egyptian girl with generalized hypertrichosis, gingival hyperplasia, coarse facial appearance, no cardiovascular or skeletal anomalies, keloid formation, and multiple labial frenula was referred to our clinic for counseling. Hypertrichosis refers to increased vellus hair growth and is independent to androgen excess. The acquired localized hypertrichosis (ALH) is one of the typical hypertrichosis, which mainly results from chronic irritation, inflammation, friction, and occlusion by plaster of Paris. We have studied 2 Egyptian sibs (the offspring of normal first cousins) with congenital cataract, hypertrichosis, mental retardation, and normal chromosomes. Pituitary hyperplasia, hypertrichosis and blunted growth hormone (GH) secretion were observed in three children with untreated primary hypothyroidism. These abnormalities disappeared and improved after thyroid hormone therapy. The recognition of these associations may eliminate unnecessary surgery and GH therapy and lead to the choice of thyroid hormone replacement therapy.

Gingival fibromatosis, a rare but often familial condition, is described in two siblings, associated with mental retardation, epilepsy and hypertrichosis. In one child a maxillary giant-cell tumour was found and excised. It is important to distinguish idiopathic gingival fibromatosis from phenytoin-induced gingival hypertrophy.

Hypertrichosis is a well-documented side effect of ciclosporin, yet it is rarely encountered in dermatological practice. We present a case of hypertrichosis in a transgender woman on testosterone-blocking therapy, illustrating that ciclosporin can induce hypertrichosis even in the context of androgen suppression. Postcast hypertrichosis is a common transient occurrence in orthopedic patients and generally resolves within a few months. Until now, two cases of localized hypertrichosis occurring on more than one pre-existing psoriatic lesions are reported in the literature. We describe the case of a patient who simultaneously developed a single psoriatic plaque and overlying localized hypertrichosis after plaster application. This concurrence is exceptional and may be explained by the expression of several growth factors and cytokines influencing both the hair cycle and the psoriatic inflammatory working.

X-linked congenital generalized hypertrichosis (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man 307150) is an extremely rare condition of hair overgrowth on different body sites. We previously reported linkage in a large Mexican family with X-linked congenital generalized hypertrichosis cosegregating with deafness and with dental and palate anomalies to Xq24-27. Temporary henna tattoos have become increasingly widespread. Although reactions to henna tattoo are becoming progressively more common, only one case of a henna pseudotattoo resulting in temporary hypertrichosis has been reported so far. We report three patients who received paint-on henna tattoos on their right upper arm. Approximately 1 week later, localized hypertrichosis was observed over the same area as the tattoo, which resolved spontaneously within 3-4 months.
