Malassezia pachydermatis is considered to be a contributing factor to canine atopic dermatitis (AD). The purpose of this study was to investigate the humoral response to a commercially produced M. pachydermatis extract. Fifteen atopic dogs with Malassezia overgrowth on the skin (MD), 16 atopic dogs without MD, three atopic dogs with overgrowth of Malassezia in the ears only (MO), and 12 normal dogs were intradermally tested with M. pachydermatis extract at 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 PNU mL(-1). A patient, aged 78, with exfoliative dermatitis due to the ingestion of Chinese herbs (decoction) was presented. The authors report on the experimental use of an allergen, prepared by a special method, for the detection of brucellosis in both infected and non-infected sheep. The best method is the intradermal injection into the eyelid of 0.5 ml and the best time for reading the reaction is between 48 and 72 hrs after inoculation. The allergen proved more sensitive than the serum-agglutination test on infected sheep, and extremely specific, since all tests on non-infected sheep were negative and induced neither agglutinin production nor allergic sensitization.

Appropriately controlled tests were carried out in two cases of patients with carcinoid tumors and abnormal circulating levels of serotonin to verify a hypothesis that such patients would have a greater tolerance for exogenous serotonin than would normal persons. Contrary to the hypothesis, the patients had not less but more reaction to intradermal injection of serotonin than to histamine and also more reaction than normal persons.If this altered reactivity were to be observed consistently in large series of patients with malignant carcinoid disease, it might be used as a presumptive test.

An evaluation of intradermal test in screening paragonimiasis was attempted by comparing antigens, filtered through Sephadex G 50, fractionated by DEAE Sephadex A 25, and V.B.S.(crude extract of adult worms) antigen on 402 school children. The immune status of a group of sheep naturally infected with hydatid cysts was investigated. Low specific anti-hydatid antibody (Sab) titres and negative results in intradermal and leucocyte migration tests occurred in hosts with high hydatid antigen-stimulated lymphocyte transformation (LT). In a series of control study on human clonorchiasis, surveys had been carried out for four years. During the fourth year of study, immunodiagnosis was also tried.
