Hemocarboadsorption (HCA) with the following immunosuppressive therapy was used to treat 48 patients with pemphigus vulgaris (PV) and 31 patients with bullous pemphigoid (BP) in the acute phase. The levels of autoantibodies, eicosanoids, endoproteases and their inhibitors as well as interleukin (IL) 1 and IL 2 production and absorption of exogenous IL 2 were examined in the treatment dynamics. The therapeutic effect of HCA was displayed in prompt disease remission in 43 PV and 29 BP patients. Eight Simmental cattle were presented to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine over the past decade with historic or current prolonged episodes of bleeding. Spontaneous epistaxis, superficial hematomas, and prolonged bleeding following injury or minor surgery (such as tattooing) were frequent observations. The clinical and laboratory features of 87 patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) are described. A large majority of patients presented with diffuse disease with extensive ulcerations and digital resorption. No case of CREST syndrome was seen. The pattern of systemic involvement was generally similar to that reported in the Western literature. Renal involvement appeared to be less aggressive and chronic in its course. A possible aetiology was identified in three patients.

The results of a study on onychomycosis in AIDS related complex and AIDS patients presenting for dermatology consultation at an infectious diseases department are reported. The clinical results showed that most patients presented a proximal white superficial onychomycosis. Fifty patients with acute deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, acute myocardial infarct and priapism were treated with subcutaneous calcium heparin. Laboratory control was based on the examination of APTT. We evaluated an immunochemiluminometric assay for human thyrotropin. A chemiluminescent acridinium ester is used as a label, with magnetic-particle separation.
