Integrating antimicrobial photodynamic therapy into the adjuvant phototherapeutic approach for orofacial manifestations of toxic epidermal necrolysis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Characterized by an immune reaction to medications, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) and Steven-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) are potentially fatal mucocutaneous reactions, and their management remains challenging. Considering the promising studies regarding the use of laser in managing orofacial lesions, this study aimed to report two cases in which children presenting with TEN and SJS were treated using a combination of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) concurrently with conventional supportive care. The treatment proposed herein resulted in significant

Short and Long-Term Outcomes of 308-nm Laser for Pediatric Vitiligo.

Pediatric vitiligo is often challenging to treat. Children with vitiligo experience stigma, bullying, and emotional distress. The long-term outcome of therapeutics used to treat pediatric vitiligo has been poorly documented in the literature. It is, therefore, hard to counsel patients on the expected long-term results of therapy. We sought to address outcomes in pediatric vitiligo treated with a 308-nm laser. An IRB-exempt chart review was conducted in June of 2016 of children undergoing active 308-nm laser in the first half of 2016. Demographic data, location of disease, therapeutic parameter

Red and near-infrared photobiomodulation for burn, hypertrophic, and post-surgical scars: a scoping review of clinical trials.

PURPOSE: Scars may lead to pain, pruritus, functional impairment, and cosmetic concern despite standard therapies. Photobiomodulation (PBM) delivered by light-emitting-diode (LED) or low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has emerged as a non-invasive option to modulate scar remodeling. However, available data derives from small, heterogenous studies. This scoping review evaluates whether red and near-infrared PBM improves clinical outcomes in burn, hypertrophic, and post-surgical scars and summarizes treatment parameters used. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, and MEDLINE were searched through October 2025 f

Effects of suprapubic photobiostimulation on bladder function in two girls with Hinman syndrome.

Hinman syndrome (HS) represents the severe clinical phenotype of dysfunctional voiding, characterized by functional bladder outlet obstruction in neurologically normal children. This study evaluated the effects of photobiostimulation (PBST) in two pediatric patients using serial urodynamic assessments. Two pediatric patients diagnosed with HS underwent a PBST therapeutic protocol based on light-emitting diodes (LEDs) emitting in the red spectrum (λ = 630 nm). Irradiation was applied over the suprapubic region. Baseline invasive urodynamic assessment (filling cystometry and pressure-flow study)

Efficacy and safety comparison between pulsed dye laser and intense pulsed light configured with different wavelength bands in treating erythematotelangiectatic rosacea.

Previous clinical studies have shown that pulsed dye laser (PDL) and intense pulsed light (IPL) are effective for treating erythematotelangiectatic rosacea(ETR). This article aims to compare the efficacy and safety of PDL and IPL at three different wavelength bands (broad-band, single-narrow-band, and dual-narrow-band) in treating ETR. Sixty subjects with ETR were randomly categorized into four groups and received one of the following laser treatments: PDL (595 nm), IPL with Delicate Pulse Light (DPL, 500-600 nm), IPL with M22 590 (590-1200 nm), or IPL with M22 vascular filter (530-650 nm and

Therapeutic Effect of Photobiomodulation and Single Intratendinous Injection at the Lesion Site of Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Inducted Tendinopathy.

Tendinopathy is a multifactorial condition characterized by collagen disorganization, inflammation, and impaired tendon function. Photobiomodulation (PBM) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) have emerged as therapeutic approaches due to their regenerative potential, although their mechanisms during tendon healing remain unclear. This study compared the effects of PBM and PRF, alone or combined, on experimentally induced calcaneal tendinopathy in rats. A total of 75 animals were divided into five groups: control, injury, PRF, PBM, and PRF + PBM. Treatments began 48 h after injury. Functional perform

Photobiomodulation for autonomic rebalancing in myocardial infarction prevention.

Autonomic nervous system (ANS) imbalance, characterized by chronic sympathetic overactivity and diminished parasympathetic tone, has increasingly been recognized as an important contributor to the pathogenesis of myocardial infarction [1-3]. ANS dysfunction not only affects hemodynamics directly, but also triggers a harmful chain of events. These include insulin resistance, the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) activation, systemic inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction [4-6]. Crucially, ANS dysregulation often manifests as a spectrum of prodromal symptoms including altered heart
