Two novel complexes, [Cu(T4)Cl2] and [Zn(T4)Cl2], were synthesized from 1,1'-[(3-fluoro-phen-yl)methyl-ene]bis-[3-(3-fluoro-phen-yl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine] (T4), and copper(II) and zinc(II) chloride, respectively. The structures of these complexes were confirmed using ESI-MS, IR and 1H NMR spectra. The results reveal mononuclear structures in which the central metal atoms are coordinated by two N atoms from the imidazole rings and two Cl ligands. In this study we investigated the properties of adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP)-stimulated Cl- efflux in Caco-2 monolayers by measuring 125I efflux rates from preloaded cells and using patch-clamp electrophysiology. The addition of a cocktail containing 100 microM dibutyryl cAMP (DBcAMP), 10 microM forskolin, and 1 mM 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine caused a significant (P less than 0.05) increase in the rate of 125I efflux. PURPOSE: Pharmacological activation of ocular surface cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) chloride channels is a potential pro-secretory approach to treat dry eye disorders. We previously reported the discovery of aminophenyl-1,3,5-triazines, one of which, N-methyl-N-phenyl-6-(2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropoxy)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine (herein called CFTRact-K267), fully activated human wildtype CFTR with EC50 ∼ 30 nM and increased tear volume for 8 hours in mice. The purpose of this study has been to describe the microanatomy of the recurrent artery of Heubner (RAH) in detail, to deepen anatomical knowledge and aid neurosurgeons in their work. Albinism in mammals is accompanied by specific morphological and functional alterations of the visual system. To understand their cellular basis we studied the physiological characteristics and transmembrane currents of pyramidal neurons in 350-microm-thick slices of visual cortex from pigmented and albino rats using whole-cell and gramicidin perforated patch-clamp recordings.
