The biocompatibility of heparin surface modified poly(methyl methacrylate) intraocular lenses (IOLs) was evaluated in two experiments following implantation in the anterior and posterior eye chambers of adult cynomolgus monkeys. The correction of contour defects of the frontal bone has been accomplished with a variety of autogenous and alloplastic materials. We report our experience in reconstructing 11 cases of congenital, traumatic, and postsurgical frontal defects with acrylic. INTRODUCTION: Achieving durable mechanical stability in geriatric intertrochanteric proximal femur fractures remains a challenge. Concomitant poor bone quality, unstable fracture patterns, and suboptimal reduction are additional risk factors for early mechanical failure.
