Ovarian fibromas, especially those of the mitotically active cellular subtype, are very rare in children; however, children with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) are prone to these neoplasms. We present a 12-year-old girl with an ovarian mitotically active cellular fibroma (MACF) with no personal or family history of NBCCS who underwent right salpingo-oophorectomy. A 49-year-old Japanese man with typical features of nevoid basal cell epithelioma syndrome is reported. The patient had cystic lesions of the jaw bone, multiple basal cell epitheliomas of the scalp and face, pits on the palms and soles, bifid ribs, scoliosis and calcification of the falx cerebri. In Japan five certain cases have been reported previously. We added one new case and reviewed the other five cases briefly.

This case report details the diagnostic process in a young man with mosaic nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS). In his mid-teens, he was first diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma (BCC). BACKGROUND: Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder. It is commonly caused by mutations in PTCH1 and chiefly characterized by multiple basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) developing prior to the age of 30 years. In rare cases, NBCCS presents with a late onset of BCC development.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate BCC tumorigenesis in two brothers, who showed characteristic features of NBCCS but developed their first BCCs only after the age of 40 years. Two other siblings did not show signs of NBCCS.

BACKGROUND: Basal cell carcinoma of the axilla, an area that is not usually exposed to the sun, is rare. Individuals with basal cell nevus syndrome, a disorder associated with a mutation in the patch 1 (PTCH1) gene, develop numerous basal cell carcinomas.
PURPOSE: To describe a woman with basal cell nevus syndrome who developed a pigmented basal cell carcinoma in each of her axilla and to review the features of axillary basal cell carcinoma patients with Goltz-Gorlin syndrome.

We report on Gorlin-Goltz syndrome observed in 4 patients belonging to three generations of the same family. We present the clinical findings and emphasize recent genetic discoveries.
