Faun tail nevus describes abnormal lumbar hypertrichosis, which may overlie on occult spinal abnormality and be a marker of asymptomatic underlying spinal dysraphism. We report a case of faun tail nevus, with dermal pits along with aplasia cutis congenita and asymptomatic spina bifida occulta, tethered conus, and diastematomyelia, a constellation of findings which to our knowledge has not been previously reported.

Linear nevus sebaceous is a hamartomatous lesion most commonly seen on the face and head of infants and diagnosed after birth. We describe a patient with sonographic findings of linear nevus sebaceous seen initially at 30 weeks' gestation. Other associated sonographic findings include macrocephaly and polyhydramnios. When associated with a midline soft tissue mass, these findings are highly suggestive of the presence of congenital linear nevus sebaceous sequence.

PURPOSE: Evaluation of a large series of choroidal nevi inducing the formation of a neovascular membrane in order to more clearly define the clinical presentation and to evaluate the efficacy of various treatment options.
METHOD: Retrospective study of 22 clinical cases.
RESULTS: All nevi were situated in the posterior choroid. They had a mean diameter of 3.8 mm and a mean thickness of 1.4 mm. Neovascular membranes were classic in all cases, extrafoveal in 13 cases (59%), and subfoveal in 9 cases (41%). A diagnosis of nevus psiloliparus was made both clinically and histopathologically in two otherwise healthy girls, one being 4 years and the other one being 1 year old. A congenital hairless patch with a round or oblong shape and a soft surface was noted on the scalp. A 58-year-old man presented a black nodule with satellites located in the left upper region of the umbilicus. Clinical history and microscopic findings led us to diagnose it as a malignant melanoma developing from an intradermal nevus. Histopathologically, melanoma cells developed upward from the nest of the intradermal nevus and no junctional activity was shown. Cases of malignant melanoma arising from an intradermal nevus have rarely been reported. Moreover, previously reported cases showed melanoma cells beneath the intradermal nevus.

Sebaceous nevus (SN) syndrome is a neurocutaneous disorder characterized by a distinctive skin lesion in association with epilepsy and mental retardation. We encountered an infant with nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn who was born with a striking pedunculated mass on the superotemporal aspect of the anterior sclera and limbus of the left eye. In addition, two small choroidal colobomas were seen in the papillomacular bundle area of the same eye. Histopathologic examination of the excised mass revealed a mixture of ectodermal and mesodermal elements, including cartilage and bone. These findings led to the rare diagnosis of epibulbar complex choristoma.

A case of a thirteen-year old boy is reported with congenital pigmented nevi on the large part of the trunk and on the extremities. From his age of six generalised epileptiform convulsions were present. Owing to the suspicion of intracranial process he was examined with a negative result. He died of brain edema. On section cerebrospinal leptomeningeal melanocytosis was found beside the nevi. In addition to the clinical findings and treatment the morphological lesions are detailed too at macroscopic, microscopic and ultrastructural level discussing the possibility of the malignisation.

Cystic dilatation of a hair follicle, folliculitis, abscess formation and epidermoid cysts are not infrequent findings in an intradermal melanocytic nevus. We herein report a trichilemmal cyst under a compound melanocytic nevus. To the best of our knowledge this association has not been previously reported.

Inguinal intranodal blue nevus is a rare lesion, but awareness of the condition will avoid a mistaken diagnosis of metastatic melanoma. The authors describe the case of a 40-year-old woman in whom an inguinal node blue nevus was discovered incidentally during radical vulvectomy for squamous cell carcinoma. They describe the characteristic light and electron microscopic features. With increased awareness of this lesion the authors believe it will be found in lymph-node chains other than the inguinal and axillary ones previously reported.

Two patients presented with the rare combination of bilateral diffuse choroidal hemangiomas and bilateral facial nevus flammeus. In one eye of one patient, an associated serous retinal detachment was treated with xenon arc photocoagulation in an attempt to delimit the subretinal fluid. Clinicians should be aware of the subtle clinical findings of diffuse choroidal hemangiomas as well as the possibility of bilateral occurrence. Early recognition and treatment may prevent progression of total retinal detachment and neovascular glaucoma.
