[Dermatoses characteristics for particular occupations. II. Health services and various other services].

The period after which skin changes appear is discussed, as well as localisation of their earliest appearance and allergens characteristic for physicians, dentists, nurses, veterinary surgeons and assistants, photographers and hair- dressers . Photographes handling coloured developers were found to be more exposed to dermatosis than those handling black and white ones. Ladies' hair- dressers suffer more frequently than gentelmen 's and nurses coming into contact with antibiotics and disinfectants are more exposed than other nurses.

The relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder, occupational stress, occupational burnout, and mental health in football referees: a national cross-sectional survey in China.

BACKGROUND: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, as a global public health emergency, is widely recognized as a major traumatic event with far-reaching implications for individual mental health. Football referees, as a distinct occupational group, may have been particularly vulnerable to elevated trauma exposure and psychological burden during the pandemic. However, research on the post-pandemic mental health status of this population-and the mechanisms underlying it-remains scarce. This study aims to investigate the relationships and underlying mechanisms among post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), occu

Buffalo Cardio-Metabolic Occupational Police Stress (BCOPS) study: a seven- and twelve-year prospective analysis of occupational exposures and health outcomes among police officers.

OBJECTIVE: Overall, police officers have higher rates of several adverse health conditions (e.g., cardiovascular health profiles and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)) compared to persons in many other occupations. Our objective was to conduct a comparative study of occupational exposures and health outcomes among police officers across: (a) a 7-year period, from the baseline examination (2004-2009) to the 1st follow-up examination (2011-2015) and (b) a 12-year period, from baseline to the 2nd follow-up examination (2015-2019). METHODS: Participants were from the Buffalo Cardio-Metabolic

Integrating Oral Health Into Occupational Therapy: Knowledge, Practices, Barriers and Facilitators-A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Oral health is essential for overall wellbeing and daily functioning, yet its integration into occupational therapy remains limited. Despite the profession's potential to promote oral health through person-centred, occupation-based approaches, evidence of this integration is scarce. This systematic review explores occupational therapists' (OTs) knowledge and practices in oral health care and examines the barriers and facilitators to incorporating oral health care into their clinical practice. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted across four databases: MEDLINE (Ovid), CINA

Developing a Roblox-Based Fire Drill Simulation for Safety Training in Occupational Health Education.

Fire incidents remain a major occupational risk, yet conventional instruction often fails to reproduce the urgency and complexity of real emergencies. This study developed and evaluated a Roblox-based fire drill simulation to enhance fire-safety learning among Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) students. Seventy-one undergraduates at Mahasarakham University participated in a single-group pre-test/post-test intervention consisting of a short instructional video followed by interactive simulation. Outcomes were measured using five multiple-choice knowledge items and a five-point Likert satisfa…

Global health burden and inequality patterns of occupational noise exposure from 1990 to 2019.

Exposure to occupational noise has emerged as a major health issue worldwide. To better evaluate changes in the health impacts of occupational noise exposure from 1990 to 2021, this study conducted stratified analyses of spatiotemporal variations across regions, genders, age, and sociodemographic index (SDI) levels. Results indicate that low-income and rapidly industrializing countries bear higher burdens of occupational noise-related diseases. Males and middle-aged to elderly populations are the primary high-risk groups for occupational noise exposure, with a particularly notable increase in

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the Environment: Occupational Exposure, Health Risks and Fertility Implications.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a group of organic compounds with fused aromatic rings, primarily derived from combustion processes and environmental pollutants. This narrative review discusses the most relevant studies on PAHs, focusing on their sources, environmental and occupational exposure, and effects on human health, emphasizing their roles as carcinogenic, mutagenic, and teratogenic agents. The primary pathways for human exposure to PAHs are through the ingestion of contaminated food (mainly due to some food processing methods, such as smoking and high-temperature cooking t

Seroprevalence of brucellosis among animal handlers in West Bengal, India: an occupational health study.

Brucellosis is a highly contagious zoonotic disease and a major human health problem worldwide. Due to its ways of transmission, direct or indirect contact with infected animals or their contaminated biological products, the disease exhibits strong occupational association with animal handlers comprising a significant population at risk. This study was undertaken to estimate the seroprevalence of brucellosis in animal handlers and to understand the epidemiological and serological aspects of the same. The animal handlers from the state of West Bengal, India were included in this study. It was a

Health risks of titanium dioxide (TiO2) dust exposure in occupational settings - A scoping review.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is an inorganic compound with many applications, for example in paint, sunscreen or as food coloring. There have been concerns regarding its safety and according to IARC, the existing evidence is not substantial enough to rule them out, leading to the substance being classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans (2B). This work aims to provide a comprehensible overview about epidemiological studies on occupational health risks and methodological aspects. A literature search was conducted in two databases (MEDLINE and Web of Science). The search focused on occupational e…

Tinnitus, sound intolerance, and mental health: the role of long-term occupational noise exposure.

PURPOSE: Whereas chronic noise exposure (CNE) is a known risk factor for tinnitus, little is known about how a history of CNE impacts tinnitus characteristics and its comorbid symptoms. METHODS: Seventy-five participants with chronic tinnitus (59m/16f, 22-78 years, 48 with sensory-neural hearing loss, and 27 with a normal audiogram) including 43 individuals with (Tin-CNE group) and 32 without (Tin group) a history of long-term occupational noise exposure were studied. Tinnitus characteristics were rated by a visual analog scale, and tinnitus comorbid symptoms were scored using self-assessment
