The effects of multiple injuries on the principle aspects of bone physiology are reviewed from the literature. In a clinical trial involving 14 patients with multiple fractures excluding cranial injuries, 5 were given porcine Calcitonin, two calcium gluconate-lactate with added potassium phosphate, and two calcium phosphate. Five patients acted as controls. The parameters under study were modified to varying degrees by the different substances. It was found that Calcitonin had no effect whatsoever on the healing of bone which remained virtually unaltered by the other compounds under trial.

A series of N-aryl-1-(2-bromo-4-methyl phenyl)-1H-tetrazol-5-amines was synthesized through a two-step microwave-assisted protocol from 2-bromo-1-isothiocyanato-4-methylbenzene and substituted aryl amines. Initially, thiourea derivatives were prepared under solvent-free microwave conditions, followed by cyclization with sodium azide in the presence of potassium hydroxide and molecular iodine to afford the desired tetrazole derivatives in good to excellent yields within short reaction times. Three new cyclic tetrapeptides (1-3) have been isolated from the crude fermentation extract of Onychocola sclerotica. The planar structures of 1-3 were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analyses using one- and two-dimensional NMR experiments and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The authors show the results obtained during the 5-year period 1973-1977 in 4600 patch tested patients in the Allergy Department of Barcelona University. The results obtained with the most common allergens (nickel sulfate, potassium dichromate, para compounds, cobalt and rubber) are studied separately. The results of testing with the allergens with a low incidence of positives are also shown. The results are compared with those published by the NACDG on 1200 patients and by Brun in Geneva on 1000 patients; 5.02% of the tested patients showed sensitization to benzidine.
