Clinico-genetic analysis of 21 personal observations and review of the literature confirmed the existence of a wide phenotypic spectrum of Dubowitz syndrome. It is shown that in spite of marked microcephaly, severe mental deficiency is rare in Dubowitz syndrome and about half of the patients are mentally normal. A "new" clinical subtype is defined, which also includes anorectal anomalies and premature craniosynostosis. A 43-year-old miner of the Donetsk coal fields is described, who developed in a month after a microinjury of the skin of the thoracic left side an intumescence and skin reddening. Later an agglomeration of nodules formed there with small ulcers regularly appearing, that did not heal for a long time. Histologic and bacteriologic analysis confirmed chromomycosis. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors could rise in different areas of the digestive tract, at any age, but very rarely in neonates. We present the case of a 5-day-old male, with intestinal stenosis and atresia (type II) operated for peritonitis. On the resected specimen, the histopathological examination revealed a small gastrointestinal tumor of 8 mm. The immunohistochemical analysis indicated a low malignant potential. He is currently at two years of oncologic follow-up with no evidence of disease.

INTRODUCTION: Leptospirosis is endemic in Ternopil region. In Ukraine, the disease is registered in almost all regions, including the Ternopil region. The aim of the research is to study the regularities of epidemic and epizootic processes of leptospirosis, and the circulation of its pathogens among different sources (small mammals, animals) and humans.

BACKGROUND: Preoperative diagnosis of the cause of adhesive small bowel obstruction (ASBO) is very challenging for surgeons. We aimed to develop a nomogram model for the identification of banded adhesions (BA) and matted adhesions (MA) of ASBO.
METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled patients with ASBO between January 2012 and December 2020, classified into BA and MA groups according to the intraoperative findings. A nomogram model was developed by using multivariable logistic regression analysis.
