UNLABELLED: Previous research has not explored the Five Factor Model of personality among adults who stutter. Therefore, the present study investigated the five personality domains of Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness, as measured by the NEO Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI), in a sample of 93 adults seeking speech treatment for stuttering, and compared these scores with normative data from an Australian and a United States sample. UNLABELLED: Generalization and maintenance are a widely recognized challenge for stuttering treatment. There are many reasons why this is the case. This is the first report of stuttering priapism in a liver transplant patient with toxic levels of the immunosuppressive agent FK506. To date, stuttering priapism has only been reported in patients with sickle cell disease and is not currently listed in the toxicity profile of FK506 or cyclosporine, a drug with a similar mechanism of action. The erections resolved when the FK506 levels normalized. We review the possible mechanisms by which FK506 may have caused these erections.

The syllable repetitions of 24 child and eight teenage stutterers were investigated to assess whether the vowels neutralize and, if so, what causes this. In both groups of speakers, the vowel in CV syllable repetitions and the following fluent vowel were excised from conversational speech samples. Stuttering frequency and four aerodynamic measures of articulatory events within perceptually fluent voiced and voiceless intervocalic intervals were obtained from 15 stutterers prior to and at the termination of a concentrated program of stuttering therapy.
