The ability of five antagonists to prevent the central nervous system's depressant effects of amitraz in dogs was evaluated using a shuttle avoidance paradigm. All drugs were injected iv into six male dogs trained to avoid a 1-mA shock by jumping over a hurdle within 10 sec of the start of a tone. Dogs were given an antagonist or saline followed in 5 min by 3 mg/kg amitraz dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) or DMSO alone. Forty dogs (20 treated, 20 controls) were utilized to evaluate a new treatment for naturally acquired canine scabies. A liquid concentrate formulation of amitraz was diluted and applied as a sponge-on therapy. BACKGROUND: The etiology of periodontal diseases is multifactorial including both systemic and local causes. Local factors such as grooves on root surfaces contribute a great deal to the causation of periodontal diseases.

We describe a patient with basophilic leukaemia following a 2-year period with myelodysplastic syndrome (refractory anaemia). The marrow showed 59.4% of blasts with 25.0% of mature and immature basophils. The leukaemic blasts contained granules, positively stained with toluidine blue but negative for peroxidase. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to validate a novel transnasal endoscopic approach for accurately targeting the internal branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (iSLN) via the piriform sinus, with the goal of improving treatment outcomes for laryngeal sensory dysfunction (LSD).

Histoplasma capsulatum is a saprophytic fungus that in immunocompetent individuals causes self-limited pulmonary infection; however, in immunosuppressed patients involvement of the reticuloendothelial system, alimentary tract, urinary tract, and central nervous system is fairly common. Rarely patients present with bilateral adrenal masses which mimic tuberculosis and metastasis on radiology because of associated central necrosis. Ultrasound guided FNAC aided by special stains like Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) and Gomori Methenamine Silver (GMS) may help in early diagnosis in such dubious cases.
