Comparative effectiveness of telehealth-delivered family and standard models of diabetes self-management education and support for persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

AIMS: Family members/support persons can shape the self-management decisions of persons with T2DM (PWDs), and their inclusion in DSMES may lead to improved outcomes. However, research on the effectiveness of family models of DSMES (Family-DSMES) is limited. We conducted a comparative effectiveness-implementation RCT of Family-DSMES and a standard model of DSMES (Standard-DSMES) delivered via telehealth. METHODS: 550 diverse adult PWDs and their family members/support persons were recruited from eight primary care clinics in both rural and urban areas. Process data was collected to evaluate im

Semaglutide, central retinal thickness and continuous glucose monitoring in persons with type 2 diabetes: A post-hoc analysis from a randomised trial.

AIMS: Glycemic control is important for preventing diabetic retinopathy (DR), but rapid improvements could deteriorate the disease. In some, but not all studies, semaglutide is speculated to worsen DR, but the mechanism is unknown. Central retinal thickness (CRT) is an early marker of DR. Therefore, the objective was to investigate whether increased Time in Range (TIR (3.9-10.0 mmol/L)), was associated with reduced CRT in persons treated with semaglutide. METHODS: Forty participants with type 2 diabetes were included in this post-hoc analysis of a 32-week randomised, placebo-controlled, partl

Immune response induced by the recombinant novel coronavirus vaccine (Adenovirus type 5 vector) (Ad5-nCoV) in persons living with HIV (PLWH).

BACKGROUND: Despite higher risk of poorer outcomes and potential sub-optimal vaccine effectiveness, people living with HIV (PLWH) are underrepresented in SARS-CoV-2 vaccine trials. We evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of the Ad5-nCoV vaccine (CanSino Biologics Inc./The Beijing Institute of Biotechnology) in PLWH. METHODS: In this single arm, open-label Phase 2b trial, PLWH were enrolled in Argentina. Participants received two doses of Ad5-nCoV vaccine (intramuscular, dosage 5x1010 viral particles) at days 0 and 56. The primary outcomes were safety as serious adverse events [SAE], solici

Subpopulations of Addictive Behaviors in Different Sample Types and Their Relationships with Gender, Personality, and Well-Being: Latent Profile vs. Latent Class Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Relatively strong theoretical assumptions and previous studies concerning co-occurring addictive behaviors suggest a subpopulation representing general proclivity to behavioral addictions (BAs), and there are gender-specific subpopulations. This study aimed to compare latent profile analysis (LPA) and latent class analysis (LCA) as the methods of investigating different clusters of BAs in the general student population and among students positively screened for at least one BA. Participants and procedure: Analyses of six BAs (study, shopping, gaming, Facebook, pornography, and food
