Transcatheter treatment is becoming the mainstay treatment for structural heart diseases (SHD) in prohibitive surgical risk patients. Recently with the encouraging results, it is being offered to regular risk patients. Peripheral vascular complications (VCs) are still inherent to these procedures due to the nature of this atherosclerotic high-risk group and the profile of the devices. This is a single-center early first year experience with such events occurring after initiating a SHD program treating severe aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, mitral valve prolapse and regurgitation, as wel

Objectives Transcatheter closure is the treatment of choice for most patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in infants, children, and adults. However, there is a controversy regarding transcatheter closure of clinically silent PDAs. Some authors favor device closure to eliminate the lifelong risk of infective endarteritis while others recommend avoiding PDA closure in such patients. The study describes our experience of closing the silent PDAs using the Amplatzer duct occluder II-additional size (ADO II-AS) (St. Jude Medical Corp, St. Paul, MN). Materials and methods From April 2018 through March 2021

Endovascular techniques have shown to be useful in the management of vascular injuries because they transform a complex and potentially dangerous procedure into a safe one. We present the case of a 39-year-old man with congestive heart failure and abdominal bruit 11 years after an abdominal gunshot wound. Imaging studies revealed an arteriovenous fistula involving the left iliac artery bifurcation, and an iliac branch device was used to treat it. Symptoms resolved, and follow-up imaging showed patency of the graft and closure of the arteriovenous communication. To our knowledge, this is the fi

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the feasibility of retrograde transcatheter closure of ventricular septal defects (VSD) under trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE).
METHODS: Twelve patients with VSD, with 4 residual shunt, treated by transcatheter VSD closure under solely guidance of TEE were summarized. Mean age, body weight and average diameter of VSD in 12 cases were (11.58±6.57) years, (31.85±13.28) kg, (5.50±2.20) mm, respectively. All patients were treated by retrograde transcatheter closure under solely guidance of TEE. The post-operative efficiency was estimated by TEE immediately. Patients

Iatrogenic pseudoaneurysms at vascular access sites are a common complication of endovascular procedures, occurring in 2.6%-7.7% of femoral artery access cases. Conventional treatments, such as manual compression, thrombin injection, surgical repair, and stent graft placement, each present limitations, including recurrence, invasiveness, and embolic risk. Recently, suture-mediated closure devices have emerged as minimally invasive and promising alternatives for pseudoaneurysm repair. We successfully treated two pseudoaneurysms, one involving the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and another inv

RATIONALE: Coronary artery fistulae (CAF) are uncommon heart lesions, but they are the most frequent significant hemodynamic congenital coronary anomaly. Transcatheter closure is an alternative treatment and a variety of techniques and devices were reported to use for the closure of congenital coronary fistulae.
PATIENT CONCERNS: We reported a 5-year-10-month-old boy who was diagnosed as CAF at birth. Follow-up transthoracic echocardiography showed persistent CAF and progressed dilatation of the left coronary artery.
DIAGNOSES: Coronary angiography showed torturous coronary vessel and CAF at

Even with current generation mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices, vascular complications are still considerable risks in MCS that influence patients' recovery and survival. Hence, efforts are made to reduce vascular trauma and obtaining safe and adequate arterial access using state-of-the-art techniques is one of the most critical aspects for optimizing the outcomes and efficiency of percutaneous MCS. Femoral arterial access remains necessary for numerous large-bore access procedures and is most commonly used for MCS, whereas percutaneous axillary artery access is typically considered

In patients with ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm, invasive treatment is required regardless of size. The choice between surgical and percutaneous intervention depends on surgical risk and anatomy. Surgical repair, though the gold standard, has a high mortality rate and involves redo sternotomy and cardiopulmonary bypass. Percutaneous closure is an alternative for high-risk patients, using devices like septal occluders, vascular plugs, stent grafts, and coil embolization, selected based on the pseudoaneurysm's characteristics. This case demonstrates the technique of atrial septal defect occlude

OBJECTIVE: The introduction of off-the-shelf (OTS) multibranch stent-grafts represented an advancement in the endovascular treatment of thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs), particularly in urgent settings. In certain cases (e.g, target vessel [TV] occlusion), unused directional branches (DBs) require proper occlusion with a vascular plug to prevent type III endoleaks. However, no standardized technique for DB closure has been established. We aim to evaluate the safety, feasibility, time-effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of using single-disk vascular plug (Amplatzer Vascular Plug [AVP

Aortopulmonary window is a rare congenital heart disease. It results from incomplete separation of the aorta and pulmonary artery at the conotruncal septum. It accounts for 0.2%-0.6% of all congenital cardiac defects. Closure should be done in all cases. We present the case of a 12-month-old female child with a large aortopulmonary window, complicated by severe pulmonary hypertension. Cardiac catheterization was performed and showed pulmonary vascular resistance 3 Woods units. Ascending aortography showed a large aortopulmonary window measuring 5 mm. Balloon sizing of the defect showed stretch

In patients with pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) associated with atrial septal defect (ASD), closure of ASD may carry significant risks. We aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of transcatheter closure of ASD in selected patients with PAH using a fenestrated device followed by pulmonary vasodilator therapy. During the 14.8-year period, 51 ASD patients (10 males, age 46 ± 18 years) with a mean pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) ≥ 35 mm Hg and/or systolic PAP ≥ 60 mm Hg, underwent closure with a fenestrated device. Of them, mean Qp/Qs ratio, systolic PAP and mean PAP were 2.6 ± 1.2, 73 ± 1

Iatrogenic femoral artery pseudoaneurysm is an infrequent but troublesome complication of vascular access during transcatheter aortic valve implantation. There are non-invasive, percutaneous and surgical treatment options for management of this complication. This case series report demonstrates a novel technique using an Amplatzer Duct Occluder II closure device to successfully treat iatrogenic common femoral pseudoaneurysm following transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

INTRODUCTION: Incidental arterial puncture is one of the main complications associated with central venous catheter placement. Manual compression to achieve hemostasis in subclavian and carotid artery punctures is often ineffective because of the anatomical arterial position. Accidental cannulation has traditionally been treated with open surgery or endovascular treatment, but such procedures are not exempt from complications.
OBJECTIVES: Report our experience with ultrasound-guided off-label use of Perclose ProGlide (Abbott Vascular Inc., Santa Clara, CA, USA) in patients with iatrogenic art

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of left atrial appendage (LAA) closure in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) patients ineligible for warfarin therapy.
BACKGROUND: The PROTECT AF (Watchman Left Atrial Appendage System for Embolic Protection in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation) trial demonstrated that LAA closure with the Watchman device (Boston Scientific, Natick, Massachusetts) was noninferior to warfarin therapy. However, the PROTECT AF trial only included patients who were candidates for warfarin, and even patients randomly assigned to the LAA

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and efficacy of transcatheter leak closure with detachable coils in patients with incomplete left atrial appendage (LAA) closure.
BACKGROUND: Incomplete LAA closure is common after interventional therapies targeting the LAA, potentially hindering effective thromboembolic prevention. Detachable coils have found a wide range of applications for transcatheter vascular occlusion and embolization procedures.
METHODS: Thirty consecutive patients at high thromboembolic risk with clinically relevant residual leaks (mean age 72 ± 9 years
