Rotational analysis of the 3₀¹ band of the Ã⁶Σ⁺ ← X⁶Σ⁺ system of CrCCH.

The spectrum of chromium acetylide, CrCCH, has been investigated in the near-infrared region (10,500-14,500 cm(-1)) and an intense band system is observed. The 3₀¹ band of this system has been investigated at high resolution (0.025 cm(-1)) and this system is identified as the Ã⁶Σ⁺ ← X⁶Σ⁺ system, analogous to the near IR spectra of the CrH, CrF, and CrCl molecules. Among the many unidentified lines, we have assigned 341 lines belonging to 43 of the 54 allowed branches. Using combination differences, the rotational constants of the ground state have been determined. Computational results on the

Fault-Tolerant Scheduling Mechanism for Dynamic Edge Computing Scenarios Based on Graph Reinforcement Learning.

With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and edge nodes, edge computing has taken on much of the real-time data processing and low-latency response tasks which were previously managed by cloud computing. However, edge computing often encounters challenges such as network instability and dynamic resource variations, which can lead to task interruptions or failures. To address these issues, developing a fault-tolerant scheduling mechanism is crucial to ensure that a system continues to operate efficiently even when some nodes experience failures. In this paper, we propose an in

Flexible intentions: An Active Inference theory.

We present a normative computational theory of how the brain may support visually-guided goal-directed actions in dynamically changing environments. It extends the Active Inference theory of cortical processing according to which the brain maintains beliefs over the environmental state, and motor control signals try to fulfill the corresponding sensory predictions. We propose that the neural circuitry in the Posterior Parietal Cortex (PPC) compute flexible intentions-or motor plans from a belief over targets-to dynamically generate goal-directed actions, and we develop a computational formaliz

Classification of pulmonary sounds through deep learning for the diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases secondary to connective tissue diseases.

Early diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases secondary to connective tissue diseases is critical for the treatment and survival of patients. The symptoms, like dry cough and dyspnea, appear late in the clinical history and are not specific, moreover, the current approach to confirm the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease is based on high resolution computer tomography. However, computer tomography involves x-ray exposure for patients and high costs for the Health System, therefore preventing its use for a massive screening campaign in elder people. In this work we investigate the use of de

The neuroecology of the water-to-land transition and the evolution of the vertebrate brain.

The water-to-land transition in vertebrate evolution offers an unusual opportunity to consider computational affordances of a new ecology for the brain. All sensory modalities are changed, particularly a greatly enlarged visual sensorium owing to air versus water as a medium, and expanded by mobile eyes and neck. The multiplication of limbs, as evolved to exploit aspects of life on land, is a comparable computational challenge. As the total mass of living organisms on land is a hundredfold larger than the mass underwater, computational improvements promise great rewards. In water, the midbrain

Multidimensional machine learning algorithms to learn liquid velocity inside a cylindrical bubble column reactor.

For understanding the complex behavior of fluids in a multiphase chemical bubble column reactor, a combination of the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) method and the adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) method is used to predict bubble flow inside a reactor based on the function of column height. In this study, the Euler-Euler model is employed as a CFD method. In the Eulerian method, continuity and momentum governing equations are mathematically computed for each phase, while the equations are connected together by source terms. After calculating the flow pattern and turbule

Computer-aided psychotherapy for anxiety disorders: a meta-analytic review.

Computer-aided psychotherapy (CP) is said to (1) be as effective as face-to-face psychotherapy, while requiring less therapist time, for anxiety disorder sufferers, (2) speed access to care, and (3) save traveling time. CP may be delivered on stand-alone or Internet-linked computers, palmtop computers, phone-interactive voice response, DVDs, and cell phones. The authors performed a meta-analysis of 23 randomised controlled studies (RCTs) that compared CP with non-CP in anxiety disorders: phobias, n = 10; panic disorder/agoraphobia, n = 9; PTSD, n = 3; obsessive-compulsive disorder, n = 1. Divide and recombine approaches for fitting logistic regression to large-scale health surveillance data: application to diabetes risk prediction in BRFSS.

The global rise in diabetes mellitus poses a major public health concern, highlighting the urgent need for effective risk prediction models to support early identification and prevention strategies. Yet, applying conventional statistical techniques to large-scale health surveillance data remains challenging due to memory limitations and high computational demands. One promising alternative, the divide and recombine (D&R) approach partitions the data into smaller subsets, fits logistic models independently within each, and combines the estimates to approximate full-sample maximum likelihood res

Highly parallel simulation tool for the design of isotachophoresis experiments.

BACKGROUND: Isotachophoresis (ITP) is a well-established electrokinetic method for separation and preconcentration of analytes. Several simulation tools for ITP have been published, but their use for experimental design is limited by the computational time for a single run and/or by the number of conditions that can be investigated per simulation run. A large fraction of the existing solvers also do not account for ionic strength effects, which can influence whether an analyte focuses in ITP. There is currently no publicly available tool for the easy and rapid design of ITP experiments. RESUL

Characterizing the Crosstalk Between Programmed Cell Death Pathways in Cytokine Storm With an Agent-Based Model.

Background: There is increasing recognition of extensive crosstalk between programmed cell death pathways (PCDPs), such as apoptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis, resulting in a highly redundant system responsive to a breadth of potential pathogens. However, because pyroptosis and necroptosis propagate inflammation, these redundancies also present challenges for therapeutic control of dysregulated hyperinflammation seen in cytokine storm (CS) generated organ dysfunction. Hypothesis: We hypothesize that the conversion of existing knowledge regarding apoptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis into a

Creation of an Analytical Model of Spinal Cord Cooling by Epidural Catheter for Preventing Paraplegia.

Introduction Paraplegia is a serious complication after thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm surgery. The aortic cross-clamp blocks blood flow to the intercostal artery as a feeding blood vessel, so the spinal cord is at risk of being exposed to ischemia. Hypothermia with systemic cooling is a useful means of avoiding spinal ischemia caused by aortic blockade but has various side effects. Theoretically, local cooling by epidural cooling catheter is an effective method to reduce the side effects. However, the use of needle sensors to measure the temperature of the human spinal cord is

Interactive image guided surgery of the pineal region.

A wide variety of lesions occur in the pineal region. Of these, only 25% may benefit from surgical resection, being benign or radioresistant in nature. In the remaining 75% (malignant or radiosensitive), a conservative approach is preferred. Surgical resection of lesions arising from the pineal region has been associated with high morbidity and mortality, due to the complex microanatomy of this area. Recently computer-assisted surgery has emerged as an ideal method to safely approach many intracranial lesions. In the present study we discuss our experience in interactive image-guided surgical

FPGA-Based Low-Latency Semantic Feedback System for Real-Time Instrument Localization in Telesurgery.

BACKGROUND: Telesurgery is limited by visual latency, compromising master-slave synchronization and safety. This study proposes a real-time semantic feedback framework that reduces latency while maintaining millimetre-level localization accuracy. METHODS: We developed a low-latency semantic feedback system for real-time instrument localization using a custom visual marker and FPGA-based extraction. The system was evaluated through phantom experiments, accuracy benchmarking against the NDI system, latency measurement, and task-based evaluation under delayed visual feedback conditions. RESULTS

Topology across scales on heterogeneous cell data.

Multiplexed imaging allows multiple cell types to be simultaneously visualised in a single tissue sample, generating unprecedented amounts of spatially-resolved, biological data. In topological data analysis, persistent homology provides multiscale descriptors of "shape" suitable for the analysis of such spatial data. Here we propose a novel visualisation of persistent homology (PH) and fine-tune vectorisations thereof (exploring the effect of different weightings for persistence images, a prominent vectorisation of PH). These approaches offer new biological interpretations and promising avenu

A comprehensive physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model for nicotine in humans from using nicotine-containing products with different routes of exposure.

Physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling can be a useful tool for characterizing nicotine pharmacokinetics (PK) from use of tobacco products. We expand a previously published PBPK model to simulate a nicotine PK profile, following single or multiple use of various tobacco products [cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery systems, or a nicotine inhaler (NICOTROL)] The uptake route in the model was designed to allow for three uptake compartments: buccal cavity (BC), upper respiratory tract (URT) (conducting and transitional airways) and lower respiratory trac

Reference data on in vitro anatomy and indentation response of tissue layers of musculoskeletal extremities.

The skin, fat, and muscle of the musculoskeletal system provide essential support and protection to the human body. The interaction between individual layers and their composite structure dictate the body's response during mechanical loading of extremity surfaces. Quantifying such interactions may improve surgical outcomes by enhancing surgical simulations with lifelike tissue characteristics. Recently, a comprehensive tissue thickness and anthropometric database of in vivo extremities was acquired using a load sensing instrumented ultrasound to enhance the fidelity of advancing surgical simul

Isolated subdural hematoma secondary to Dural arteriovenous fistula: a case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) is an uncommon subtype among the intracranial arteriovenous malformations, which is characterized by pathological anastomoses between meningeal arteries and dural venous sinuses, meningeal veins, or cortical veins. While intracerebral hemorrhage accounts for most of the hemorrhagic cases in patients with DAVF, isolated subdural hematoma (SDH) is rarely reported. CASE PRESENTATION: A 45-year-old man was admitted for a progressively worsening headache over 2 weeks. Head computed tomography on admission revealed an isodense chronic SDH (CSDH) on the
