BACKGROUND: Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is commonly associated with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in adults. Little is known regarding its occurrence in children.
OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to report the clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of KS in three Romanian children with AIDS and to compare them with previously reported AIDS-associated KS in children.

This paper studied different kinds of knowledge related to HIV/AIDS in the adult Norwegian population. The empirical basis stems from two national interview surveys conducted in 1986. Two hundred and eighty questionnaires were sent to junior surgical staff throughout England inquiring about their use of systemic antibiotic prophylaxis, topical antibacterial agents, and surgical drainage in appendicectomy. One hundred and seventy-five (63%) replies were received from 81 of the 87 hospitals included in the survey. A gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric method for detecting 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in serum at concentrations as low as 10 ng/ml was used to determine to what extent 5-FU was present in the serum of patients taking oral 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC).
