The degree of effectiveness of preventive therapy with anticoagulants, following brain infarctions and in the stage of transient disorderd brain ciruclation, was studied in comparison with the frequency of repeated ischemic disorders in 166 patients, and in a control group of 138 normals. During permanent administration of anticoagulants repeated ischemic episodes appeared less frequently than with other forms of medication. The authors studied 20 patients (12 males and 8 females) from 5--40 years of age who had acute forms of epidemic encephalitis. Progressive development was marked only in 2 patients (in one case typical parkinsonism, in the other--a hallucinatory-paranoid schizophrenoform syndrome). The authors propose a complex scheme in the treatment of a febrile variant of delirium tremens. The main emphasis is made on the use of hemodez possessing an antitoxic property and normalizing metabolism. The use of the mentioned preparation along with neuroleptics and symptomatical therapy as was tried in 30 patients with delirium tremens, permitted to arrest acute disorders, the hyperthermic syndrome and normalize the vital functions of the organism. These measures excluded unfavourable lethal outcomes even in cases complicated by Gayet-Wernicke encephalopathy.

A study of the heredity and exogenic factors in 340 patients with manic-depressive psychosis makes it possible to draw a conclusion that the disorder is polyetiological. In a bipolar development there is mainly a hereditary loading and organic noxious factors, in a monopolar depression--exhaustive factors. The assumption of an existence of 2 independent psychoses (bipolar and monopolar) which was made by several foreign authors was not confirmed.

On the basis of a clinico-psychopathological study of 90 patients with the most frequently encountered forms of reactive conditions, the author eliminates the predilective clinical types of psychotraumatizing situations. The appearance of reactive depressions and neurasthenia is connected with stress situations and exhaustions. Obsessional neurotic states are connected with situations of disturbed habitual stereotypes while as hysteric states--with situations of infringement of egocentrism. Paranoical reactions appear in situations of a denial incompromissity.

On the basis of studies performed in a psychoneurological dispensary the author examined 60 patients who worked in noxious conditions of chronic micromercuralism from 1--10 years. The authors studied the effect of seduxen and elenium on 169 patients, particularly their pulse frequency, arterial pressure, electro- and polycardiogramms in a single administration of the drugs parenterally and in a long-term per os administration. A parenteral introduction of both drugs was accompanied by a slight bradycardial effect. However, high doses of seduxen (0.34--0.5 mg/kg) lead to states of tachycardia. Unlike elenium which did not exert a hypotensive effect, seduxen displayed a mild and in some cases significant hypotensive action.

On the basis of 48 clinical observations the authors describe some psychopathological changes due to certain anticonvulsive drugs used in the treatment of epilepsy (phenobarbital with diphenin or hexamindin, phenobarbital with finlepsin and bensodiazepine). The authors observed 111 cases with the anterior scalenus syndrome. Ninety-three patients underwent surgical treatment. Acknowledging the predominant role of the anterior scalenus muscle in the pathogenesis of this disorder the authors performed scalenotomia. The presented paper is a comparative study of clinico-immunological data with neuro-roentgen contrast methods (pneumoencephalography) in 156 newborns. The obtained data with a highly significant result permit to claim that the neuroimmune reactions up to the 7th day of life and even later, may reflect pathological changes of the brain in the newborn. Quite possibly they may be actively involved in the pathological process not only in the prenatal, but also in some cases in the postnatal ontogenesis.

Some results of audiometric studies in 272 patients with different psychoses (schizophrenia, presenile psychoses, alcoholic hallucinoses) were analyzed. The authors examined the auditory adaptation to threshold stimula and the time of reverse adaptation. In most of the cases adaptation was not attained or was lengthened. The authors examined 4446 patients in mental hospitals. Among these patients 15 displayed the 47 XYY syndrome and 3 with mosaicism 46 XY/47 XYY. A study of these patients showed that in 5 cases they were qualified as schizophrenic. They were study died from 2-5 years. In 4 cases the diagnosis of schizophrenia was not confirmed. In one case the authors diagnosed the disease as an atypical form of schizophrenia. The clinical traits of the disease in this case are associated with a supplementary Y somasomia.

The author describes the clinical symptomatology of coma dépassé in 19 patients with severe forms of brain strokes. Artificial pulmonary ventilation was performed until cardic arrest. The longest time of dissociated life of the organism in strokes was 5 days. Spinal automatisms were seen in 9 cases. Some possibilities of unreversible disintegration of separate structures in the CNS in different periods of coma dépassé (and in some cases prior to its development) are discussed.
