Recommendations for Combining Brain-Computer Interface, Motor Imagery, and Virtual Reality in Upper Limb Stroke Rehabilitation: Qualitative Participatory Design Study.

BACKGROUND: The high incidence and prevalence of upper limb impairment post stroke highlights the need for advancements in rehabilitation. Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) represent a promising technology by directly training the central nervous system. The integration of motor imagery (MI) and motor observation through virtual reality (VR) using BCIs provides valuable opportunities for rehabilitation. However, the diversity in intervention designs demonstrates the lack of guiding recommendations integrating neurorehabilitation principles for BCIs. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to develop recomm

Personality traits and other factors associated with psychotropic medication non-adherence at two hospitals in Uganda. A cross-sectional study.

Mental illnesses, like other chronic illnesses, require medications for both immediate, short term and long-term treatment. Medication adherence is the first and most important factor for better treatment outcomes. Non-adherence to psychotropic medications is associated with relapse, readmission, and early death. Psychological factors are among the common factors associated with non-adherence. Specific personality traits moderate the beliefs about medication that influence non-adherence to medications. Sociodemographic and clinical factors can also influence non-adherence to psychotropic medic

Listening to the community: Using formative research to strengthen maternity waiting homes in Zambia.

BACKGROUND: The WHO recommends maternity waiting homes (MWH) as one intervention to improve maternal and newborn health. However, persistent structural, cultural and financial barriers in their design and implementation have resulted in mixed success in both their uptake and utilization. Guidance is needed on how to design a MWH intervention that is acceptable and sustainable. Using formative research and guided by a sustainability framework for health programs, we systematically collected data from key stakeholders and potential users in order to design a MWH intervention in Zambia that could

Efficacy of Empirical Antibiotics in Community-Based Management of Uncomplicated Severe Acute Malnutrition in Children: Protocol of a Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: An estimated 17 million children have severe acute malnutrition (SAM) worldwide, with the majority residing in South Asia. Routine empirical antibiotics are prescribed for Community-based Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (CSAM) to address presumed clinical/subclinical infections and improve nutritional recovery for children with uncomplicated SAM, but low prevalence of infection has been reported. Thus, targeted antibiotics (eg, single-dose azithromycin or 7-day amoxicillin) are recommended over empirical antibiotics to limit emerging antimicrobial resistance (AMR), but ther

Factors Influencing Telemedicine Adoption Among Health Care Professionals: Qualitative Interview Study.

BACKGROUND: Telemedicine is transforming health care by enabling remote diagnosis, consultation, and treatment. Despite rapid adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine uptake among health care professionals (HCPs) remains inconsistent due to perceived risks and lack of tailored policies. Existing studies focus on patient perspectives or general adoption factors, neglecting the complex interplay of contextual variables and trust constructs influencing HCPs' telemedicine adoption. This gap highlights the need for a framework integrating risks, benefits, and trust in telemedicine adopti
