OBJECTIVE: To compare the plaque inhibition benefits of a control 0.454% stannous fluoride/sodium hexametaphosphate/sodium fluoride dentifrice (SnF2/SHMP with 1450 ppm F) to a chlorhexidine digluconate (0.05%), aluminum lactate (0.8%), and aluminum fluoride (AlF3/Chx with 1400 ppm F) dentifrice.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the expected anticaries efficacy of a new dentifrice containing stannous fluoride as the anticaries agent and potassium nitrate as the antihypersensitivity agent using a series of laboratory and animal studies.

A quick and reproducible method for radiolabeling of Photosan-3(R), a photosensitizer used worldwide for photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer, with radioisotope of technetium ((99m)Tc) was developed. Chronic triethyl tin intoxication was induced in young adult rats by oral feeding of triethyl tin sulfate. Progressively severe brain edema developed during the 3-month experimental period. METHODS: A total of 204 bovine enamel samples were embedded in acrylic resin and allocated to 17 groups (n=12). Primary cultures of neuronal networks grown on microelectrode arrays were used to quantify acute effects of fluoxetine (Prozac) on spontaneous spike and burst activity.
