BACKGROUND: Proximal humerus fractures (PHFs) are common, especially in the elderly, and optimal surgical management remains debated. This study compares clinical, functional, and radiographic outcomes of deltoid split (DS) vs deltopectoral (DP) approaches in PHFs treated with locking plates.

We postulate that not all maxillofacial firearm injuries need be delayed and that many may be treated early. RATIONALE: Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a potentially life-threatening condition with high morbidity and mortality, and computed tomographic pulmonary angiography (CTPA) is an important diagnostic tool for patients in whom PTE is suspected; however, intraoperative PTE is very difficult to diagnose and often has a rapid clinical course. BACKGROUND: Posterior shoulder dislocation frequently results in a centrally located impression fracture of the anterior humeral head, known as reverse Hill-Sachs lesion (RHSL). Depending on its size and location, the RHSL can lead to engagement with the posterior glenoid rim and subsequently redislocation of the shoulder joint.
