The efficient separation of oil and water is a significant challenge worldwide due to the increasing frequency of industrial oily wastewater. Previous work by our group utilizes biological metal-organic framework-based superhydrophobic (S.P) textile fabric for oil/water separation. However, this system is limited due to the low mechanical stability, so there is a need for producing a more robust S.P membrane for oil/water separation. In this study, we report on the synthesis of carbon quantum dots (CQD) from banana leaves via a hydrothermal process and their application in producing a robust S

A 23-month-old boy was brought to a medical center by his mother, as she noticed that the father has gripped him around the neck and this had left marks. As a result of this, a child protection medical examination was requested. However, there was a significant chronology of mental health issues in the mother. Among the mother's medications, quetiapine and propranolol were the more active. Given a consultant pediatrician was concerned that the boy was vulnerable and potentially has experienced neglect and physical harm, the local authority instructed a hair test to document possible poisoning.

Numerous wood preserving waste (WPW) sites in the United States pose genotoxic hazards. WPWs consist of complex mixtures containing toxic, including genotoxic, compounds which are derived from the preservatives coal tar creosote and pentachlorophenol (PCP) and other polychlorinated aromatics. The genotoxicity of WPW extracts, which has not been tested in mammals, cannot be evaluated on the basis of data for individual components because of possible compound interactions. Therefore, whole extracts need to be assayed. 32P-postlabeling represents a powerful tool to determine DNA adduct formation
