A 25-year-old female presented with high fever and dyspnea. She was diagnosed as infective endocarditis, severe mitral regurgitation, grade II A-V block and acute left heart failure We performed emergency mitral valve replacement. At operation, mitral ring abscess was found which was extended to submitral left ventricular wall. The abscess was excised and the defect of mitral annulus was repaired with Xenomedica patch. OBJECTIVE: To assess durability and viability of autologous aortic tissue used to augment severe branch pulmonary artery stenosis with a novice surgical technique.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Seven patients underwent corrective surgery for complex cyanotic congenital heart disease. Their age ranged from 3-6 years, and their weight 11-17.4 kg. All had concomitant branch pulmonary artery stenosis repaired utilizing an autologous patch, harvested from the patient's own aorta by excising a ring and opening it to form the patch. We aimed to retrospectively evaluate the transsphenoidal endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) for the resection of symptomatic Rathke's cleft cysts (RCC) in 23 patients (11 male, 12 female, average age 43 years). The patients were followed-up for between 3 months and 36 months. Headache was the primary pre-operative symptom (15/23, 65%) and all patients with headache improved after surgery.
