ADVANCES IN RADIOTHERAPY OF ADRENAL GLAND LESIONS.

Primary adrenal tumors include a broad variety of lesions, from nonfunctioning incidentalomas to secreting adrenocortical adenomas including Aldosteronism, Cushing or androgen secreting lesions. Primary tumors can occur either in the cortex or the medulla of the adrenal glands, having different histopathological features and also different clinical appearances and treatment approaches. In addition, the adrenal glands can become distant metastatic sites of numerous primary malignancies. The first line of treatment in a broad variety of cases is surgery. After pathology results, in selected case

CATAMENIAL DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a common medical emergency situation. In rare cases, glycemic changes associated with the menstrual cycle may create a predisposing factor for DKA. In the absence of facilitating factors that may cause DKA, catamenial DKA should be considered. In the patients with catamenial DKA, increasing the insulin dose 1-2 days before menstruation may prevent the development of hyperglycemia or DKA associated with menstrual cycle. In this study, we present a 21-year-old female with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) that recurrently applied to our hospital due to DKA a few days p

PATHOLOGICALLY-CONFIRMED ISOLATED HYPOTHALAMO-PITUITARY SARCOIDOSIS REFRACTORY TO PULSE-DOSE GLUCOCORTICOIDS AND SUCCESSFULLY TREATED WITH METHOTREXATE.

Isolated sarcoidosis of the hypothalamic-pituitary system is a very rare form of neurosarcoidosis. A high index of suspicion is required for diagnosis and the choice of therapy embodies another challenge due to lack of standardized protocols. Glucocorticoids are the mainstay of initial treatment, whereas the second and third-line therapy include immunomodulators and cytotoxic drugs, in addition to monoclonal antibodies. This report presents an unusual case of panhypopituitarism in a 32-year-old previously healthy male patient due to isolated hypothalamo-pituitary sarcoidosis confirmed histolog
