A prospective study was conducted to study the splenic function among sickle cell anemia (SCA) patients in Qatif (Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia). Seventy-seven patients (30 children and 47 adults aged 2-57 years) were included. (99m)Tc stannous colloid liver-spleen scan was done for each patient during steady state. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Resinous materials for the veneers of fixed prostheses commonly require mechanical retention on metal substructures because there is no chemical adhesion. However, mechanical retention does not restrict creation of a marginal gap at the resin-metal interface, which can cause discoloration or detachment of resinous material. PURPOSE: (90)Y radioembolization has emerged as a valuable therapy for intrahepatic cholangiocellular carcinomas (ICC). We aimed to evaluate the prognostic power of FDG PET/CT and that of pretherapeutic scintigraphy with (99m)Tc-labelled macroagglutinated albumin (MAA), an index of tumour vascularization.
METHODS: The study group comprised 26 consecutive patients suffering from nonresectable ICC. Before treatment with radioembolization, all patients underwent MRI of the liver, as well as MAA scintigraphy, which was followed immediately by SPECT(/CT) to quantify the liver-lung shunt fraction.
