Isolated wetlands are crucial to the global mercury (Hg) cycle due to their widespread distribution and variable hydrology. To quantify atmospheric Hg deposition, sediment accumulation, and Hg methylation, we collected surface sediments from 10 Carolina bay wetlands-including short- and long-hydroperiod bays during wet and dry seasons for total Hg (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) analysis. In this study, the pollution status of antibiotics and ARGs in sediments from the land-sea intersection of Liaodong Bay was analyzed. The results showed that the level of antibiotic pollution ranged from ND to 433.27 ng/kg, with quinolones and tetracycline as the dominant antibiotics. BACKGROUND: Individual variation in movement strategies of foraging loggerhead turtles have been documented on the scale of tens to hundreds of kilometers within single ocean basins. Use of different strategies among individuals may reflect variations in resources, predation pressure or competition. It is less common for individual turtles to use different foraging strategies on the scale of kilometers within a single coastal bay. We used GPS tags capable of back-filling fine-scale locations to document movement patterns of loggerhead turtles in a coastal bay in Northwest Florida, U.S.A.

A new biogeochemical model for Chesapeake Bay has been developed by merging two published models - the ECB model of Da et al. (2018) that has been calibrated for the Bay but only simulates nitrogen, carbon and oxygen and the BioRedoxCNPS model of al Azhar et al. (2014) and Hantsoo et al. (2018) that includes cryptic sulfur cycling. Comparison between these models shows that judicious choices are required for key processes and parameters. This manuscript documents the sources of differences between the two published models in order to select the most realistic configuration for our new model.•T

Tungiasis, a World Health Organization neglected tropical disease, is caused by the female sand flea. Most clinical trials for tungiasis use expensive or impractical drugs, which are difficult for residents to use. However, in western Kenya, communities successfully treat tungiasis with sodium carbonate. We hypothesise that the topical risk-difference of 5% sodium carbonate is no more than 10% non-inferior to dimeticone (NYDA®) for tungiasis treatment. We surveyed 30 individuals of Tylosurus gavialoides (Castelnau) (Belonidae) collected from Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia, and describe three new species of Prosorhynchoides Dollfus, 1929 from them. The new species are morphologically distinct from existing Prosorhynchoides spp. and 28S and ITS-2 ribosomal DNA data further supports our morphological findings.
