The course of 675 patients operated on for carcinoma of the colon was analysed in relation to various prognostically relevant factors. The most important one in case of recurrence was a negative CEA (carcino-embryonal antigen) test. In this case the five-year survival rate after a second operation was 44%, compared with 6%, if the test was positive. During the past six years, more than 200 patients were treated with chemotherapy for disseminated testicular cancer with a 70% complete remission rate. Vulvar neoplasias are rarely encountered lesions at female genital tract, regardless if they are primary or metastatic. Presence of signet ring cells in a tumour at female genito-urinary tract is highly suggestive of a metastatic lesion particularly from a gastrointestinal tumour. Congenital epithelial tumours of the salivary glands are very rare. The Salivary Gland Registry maintained in the Department of Pathology. University of Hamburg, contains only three cases among a total of 6,646 salivary gland tumours from the years 1965-1994.
