A simple and sensitive analytical method for quantification of carvedilol in pig serum was developed and validated. Carvedilol and internal standard (IS) were extracted into n-hexane-dichloromethane solvent system and separated using an isocratic mobile phase on a Phenomenex C(18) column. The eluent was monitored by spectroflourimetric detector at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The linearity range of proposed method was 1-1000 ng/mL. The intra-day and inter-day coefficient of variation and percent error values of the assay method were less than 15%, and mean recovery was more than 89.95 and 94.27

The enantioseparation of albendazole sulfoxide (ABZSO) by chiral supercritical-fluid chromatography (SFC) on two columns, based on the polysaccharide derivatives Chiralpak AD and Chiralcel OD, was studied. The effect of different modifiers, methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, and acetonitrile, was examined. The results showed that ABZSO can be separated on both columns, using an alcohol-type modifier. Using the Chiralpak AD column, the best results were obtained with 2-propanol and, in the case of the Chiralcel OD, with methanol.

The chromatographic conditions were Hypersil-C18 column(5 microns, 4.6 mm i.d. x 150 mm) at 35 degrees C, mobile phase of methanol-water-glacial acetic acid-triethylamine(60:35:5:0.1, V/V) with a flow rate of 0.9 mL/min and UV detection at 270 nm. N-vinylpyrrolidone-N(2-hydroxy) acrylamide copolymer-modified porous glass was studied as a support for gel permeation chromatography. Influenza, Sendai, fowl plague viruses and rota-viruses were purified by chromatography on the support. As compared with Sepharose 4B the support shows better hydrodynamic properties and yields higher amounts of purified viruses. The support can be also applied to the t-RNA and ribosomes separation.

The DNA was reacted with methyl methanesulfonate in neutral solution, and then degraded into deoxyribonucleosides by snake venom phosphodiesterase and alkaline phosphatase. A selective adsorbent for thyroid peroxidase was prepared by attaching tyrosine, a possible substrate of peroxidase, to agarose beads. When partially purified calf thyroid peroxidase was passed through a column containing this adsorbent, the peroxidase activity present was bound to the agarose. We describe an indirect test of fetal lung maturity: the quantitation of disaturated phosphatidylcholine in amniotic fluid. The lipids in samples of amniotic fluid from 172 patients were reacted with osmium tetroxide, and disaturated phosphatidylcholine was then isolated by thin-layer chromatography. We measured Concanavalin A (Con A) non-binding alphafetoprotein in amniotic fluid from 21 normal pregnancies and 20 abnormal pregnancies (complicated by anencephaly, spina bifida, or exomphalos) using small Con A-sepharose chromatography columns.
