Cushing's syndrome is a rare disease. Cushing's syndrome presenting as acute psychosis is an exceptional occurrence. We present the case of a 37-year-old woman who was admitted with acute confusion associated with mild hypercalcaemia and was subsequently diagnosed with parathyroid and adrenal adenomas. Our hospital sees approximately 6000 endocrine patients per year, with an incidence of around four Cushing's cases annually. This is the first such case to occur in our hospital and one of few described in the literature.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Aminoglycosides and corticosteroids are commonly used to treat Menière's disease. Intratympanic (IT) administration of these medications allows high inner ear concentrations without significant adverse systemic effects. As a direct result, IT therapy has grown in popularity. Recent studies have compared patient outcomes between IT aminoglycosides and corticosteroids. This review summarizes these findings.

INTRODUCTION: Focal epithelial hyperplasia (FEH) is a disease of the oral mucosa caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) types 13 and 32. It is not very common in Denmark and thus not well known to most physicians. It is rarely seen in Caucasians, but in other parts of the world, especially in the southeast Mediterranean countries, among the native Indians of South and Central America, and in Eskimos the disease is rather common. FEH presents with exophytic lesions of the oral mucosa and may be rather easily confused with papillomas or condylomas, and therefore perhaps give rise to the suspicion

Fifteen cases of cimetidine-associated mental confusion have recently appeared. To further study this syndrome, we monitored cimetidine serum concentrations in 36 patients and correlated these with changes in mental status. Thirty patients did not change on cimetidine and 6 experienced moderate to severe mental status changes.
