OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between dendritic cell(DC) and pathogenesis of abnormal scar.
METHODS: The content of HLA-DR and CD1a molecules of DC, in 6 samples of hypertrophic scar (HS), keloid (K) and normal skin, were determined with the stain of avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex method (ABC). The effect of Triamcinolone Acetonide was evaluated with the measurement of the HLA-DR and CD1a molecules of DC in the epidermis of the HS.

The administration of cAMP-elevating agents affects a number of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Because dendritic cells (DCs) play a pivotal role in autoimmunity and inflammation, the isolated effects of cAMP-elevating agents on the function of DCs was examined. The cutaneous or mucosal DC-T cell environments seem extremely supportive of immunodeficiency virus replication. Apart from very early after SIV infection, similar virus producing cells have been difficult to detect in the lymphoid tissues where DCs and T cells are also known to interact. Large amounts of virus can be visualized in the germinal centers of the lymph nodes, much of which represents immune complexed virus that is trapped on the follicular dendritic cell surface. However, whether these virus-carrying cells actually make virus or even virus proteins requires further investigation.

A controlled trial of oral acyclovir in herpetic dendritic corneal ulcers was carried out on 31 patients. All patients received minimal wiping debridement of the ulcer, following which they were randomly allocated to receive either oral acyclovir or placebo for 7 days. At the end of treatment 67% of dendritic ulcers in patients receiving acyclovir had healed compared with 43% in placebo recipients. The proportion of ulcers healed in the 2 groups at 7 days showed no significant difference (p = 0.18), but the rate of healing was significantly faster in acyclovir group (p = 0.03).
