A 17-year-old, castrated male domestic shorthair cat presented with nonspecific clinical findings of three days' duration. Complete blood counts and serum biochemistry profiles revealed evidence of hepatic dysfunction. Ultrasonographic evaluation revealed abnormalities consistent with pancreatitis, with suspected pancreatic duct dilatation in the left limb of the pancreas. Surgery and eventual necropsy confirmed a diagnosis of pancreatitis, along with pancreatic duct dilatation. A 16-year-old female patient with recurrent stenosis after unilateral choanal atresia that had been treated by surgery and laser therapy presented with restenosis 3 weeks after laser resection. As an alternative to repeat surgery, she was treated by balloon dilatation. Splenic displacement and torsion may stretch the gastric ligaments, allowing increased mobility of the stomach. Five patients died, one before endoscopy, one immediately after endoscopies, and three subsequently with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Colonic dilatation has been reported as an occasional complication of infectious colitis in single case reports and short series, but no large series has been published. We analysed 19 cases of self-limited colitis complicated by colonic dilatation, with infective agents identified in 14, admitted to a Regional Infectious Diseases Unit. A series of 54 men, 25 with acute urinary retention and 29 with cytometrically proven bladder outflow obstruction (BOO), underwent dilatation of the prostatic urethra using a 35 mm fixed diameter, low compliance balloon.
