We describe the novel combined use of a fiberoptic bronchoscope and a Fuji Uniblocker placed outside the endotracheal tube (ETT) for removal of a retained BioGlue polymerized tissue fragment (2.8 × 0.8 cm) from the right main bronchus (RMB). BACKGROUND: Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) refers to the association of micrognathia, glossoptosis, and airway obstruction. Cases with severe dyspnea due to upper airway obstruction immediately after birth are very rare. We here report two cases with PRS who developed severe dyspnea due to morphological abnormality immediately after birth and were rescued by fiberoptic nasotracheal intubation.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the utility and safety of fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) in an intensive care unit (ICU).
METHODS: From Aug 2013 to Aug 2014, out of 492 patients admitted into Beijing Haidian Hospital ICU, 86 patients were included according to the study. Data including age, sex, APACHE, SAPS and Disease type, were processed using SPSS16.0.
RESULTS: A total of 104 FOBs were performed in 86 patients P who were admitted to the ICU. FOB was useful in 64% of diagnostic procedures and 81% of therapeutic procedures, with an overall utility of 72%. The utility according to pneumonia in 32 cas

BACKGROUND: Fiberoptic bronchoscopy and lung biopsy are important diagnostic tools in patients with diffuse pulmonary infiltrates. However, these patients often have hypoxemic respiratory failure that makes this procedure hazardous. Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) has been shown to improve oxygenation in hypoxemic patients.
OBJECTIVE: To report the efficacy and safety of an innovative technique of NIV-assisted bronchoscopic lung biopsy in a small case-series of hypoxemic subjects with diffuse parenchymal infiltrates; also to systematically review the literature on NIV-assisted bronchoscopy.

Stridor is caused by turbulent flow through a narrow airway. Common causes of stridor are deep neck infection, malignancy, angioneurotic oedema, trauma and congenital anomalies like laryngomalacia. The majority of these conditions can progress rapidly to complete airway obstruction. These conditions are traditionally managed with one of the following techniques: inhalational induction, awake tracheostomy, awake fibreoptic intubation or blind nasal intubation. The success and safety of each of these techniques continues to be debated.

A man in his eighties with massive hemoptysis was referred to our hospital in order to control the bleeding. Chest computed tomography (CT) indicated that the hemoptysis originated from the right upper lobe. We performed arterial embolization twice, but failed to stop it. A 67-year-old male was scheduled for cadaveric renal transplant. Following rapid sequence anaesthesia, only the tip of the epiglottis was visualized. Mask ventilation was difficult, and therefore an alternative airway device was considered. This report describes airway management difficulties in a patient with an asymptomatic and undiagnosed epiglottic cyst. Mask ventilation after induction of general anesthesia was uneventful. Insertion of an LMA resulted in inadequate ventilation. Fiberoptic intubation through an intubating LMA was impossible because the LMA pushed the cyst into the laryngeal inlet. Fibreoptic intubation, assisted by the use of a direct laryngoscope without the LMA was uneventful. Preoperative craniocervical scans performed for assessment of other conditions may reveal asymptomatic pathology in the airway.
