Patients with acutely injured spinal cords are thought to be at increased risk for thromboembolic disease and often have contraindications to anticoagulation therapy. From 1981 to 1986, 13 patients with quadriplegia at the New England Regional Model Spinal Cord Injury Center had caval interruption with a Greenfield filter. Two cases of downward migration of the Günther vena caval filter are reported. Migration resulted in recurrent pulmonary embolism in one case; in the second, partial thrombosis of the filter precluded retrieval. Both patients were treated successfully by placement of a second Günther filter in the infrarenal vena cava. Until more experience with this filter is available, the authors recommend use of the 30-mm filter in medium- and large-size venae cavae. With the increasing utilization of intravenous catheters, complications from their use may be anticipated. We report the case of one such complication, a venous catheter fragment embolization. A review of the literature addressing catheter embolization is provided. Specific recommendations are offered to the emergency physician in an effort to minimize such untoward occurrences.

We have described an infant in whom migration of a transected umbilical artery catheter resulted in sudden vascular ischemia of an extremity. Early operative retrieval was successful, but long-term effects of this complication were encountered. We have outlined an approach to the initial management of the complication. In addition, this case demonstrates the need for careful follow-up for identification and treatment of the long-term sequelae in the involved extremity.

We present a patient with emphysema and a right-sided pneumothorax in whom a chest tube was inadvertently positioned in the lower portion of the right major fissure. The tube migrated across the midsaggital plane, resulting in left shoulder pain with elevation of the left hemidiaphragm. Malfunctioning of the tube did not result, and following its removal the diaphragm returned to its original position.

The use of colposcopy as an office procedure is shown to be an effective method in localizing the IUD's string deep in the cervical canal, and for following those patients who wish to continue with IUD, thus avoiding replacement of the device. In 24 patients with missing string, colposcopy was used, and was found to be an effective procedure which obviates the use of unnecessary x-ray exposure, invasive procedures and expensive ultrasonography.

32 years after the injury, an infantry bullet was found to extrude into the duodenum, with its sharp end impacted in the common bile duct. After several previous endoscopic examinations (duodenoscopy, ERCP), endoscopic removal was planned. In the meantime, the bullet was expelled per vias naturales, leaving a biliodigestive fistula.

After the injection of Teflon and Silicon behind the vocal cords of sheeps we noticed that these materials are quite well supported. The little particles of Teflon are surrounded by conjective tissue wheras the Silicon is enclosed in an unic membrane. We could not see a migration of the materials in the depth.

Foreign body ingestion is a rare but important clinical event. We herein describe a patient who was misdiagnosed with acute pancreatitis after inadvertent ingestion of a toothpick while drunk. The toothpick penetrated the stomach and migrated to the pancreas, resulting in abdominal pain for nearly 1 month. BACKGROUND: Intrauterine devices are safe, affordable, convenient, and the most common form of contraception used by females of childbearing age in Palestine. A rare complication of intrauterine devices is migration to nearby structures, rarely the urinary bladder, leading to bladder stone formation.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 34-year-old female patient presented due to repeated urinary tract infections and flank pain associated with lower urinary tract symptoms, including dysuria, frequency, and gross hematuria. Subsequent laboratory tests revealed a past medical history of iron-deficiency anemia.

With advancements in endoscopic surgery, vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) offers a scarless and minimally invasive alternative.
