There is evidence suggesting that the excretion and conversion of neutral sterols in the human large bowel might be somewhat related to the development of colorectal cancer. Fifteen cases of canine gastric polyps, collected over a 4-year period, were investigated using gross inspection, histological procedures and immunohistochemical techniques for Helicobacter infection. No breed or sex predisposition was found for gastric polyps, although they occurred mainly in elderly animals.
