Iodinated X-ray contrast media (ICM) are detected in natural waters at high concentrations relative to other pharmaceuticals due to extensive use in medical diagnostics and high recalcitrance during conventional wastewater treatment. PURPOSE: To classify the anatomic types of the right internal spermatic vein (ISV).
METHODS: We evaluated venograms obtained in 150 consecutive patients with idiopathic varicocele referred for transfemoral sclerotherapy.
RESULTS: Six anatomic types of the right internal spermatic vein (ISV) were recognized. These were classified by the location of their orifices and the tributary venous patterns. In roughly half the patients (53%), the ISV appeared as a simple vein with no remarkable retroperitoneal interconnections. In the remainder, complex retroperitoneal anastomoses were encountered.

The paper deals with the results of using the nonionic water soluble contrast agents ultravist 300 and ultravist 370 (Schoring, Germany) to examine the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) in 21 patients with acute abdominal abnormality. Fallopian tube recanalization is a technique for treatment of proximal tubal obstruction caused by debris. The true frequency of infertile women for whom this treatment is suitable is not well known. In this study all hysterosalpingograms (HSGs) performed over a 3-year period (1986-88) were reviewed. The HSGs were performed as part of an infertility evaluation program in 494 women, with a mean duration of infertility of 2.4 years.
