Leiomyosarcoma is a rare tumour that accounts for 0.5% oesophageal sarcomas. The most common presenting symptom is dysphagia. This report presents a case of oesophageal leiomyosarcoma in a 56-year-old Caucasian man found incidentally while being investigated for refractory cough. There was no history of dysphagia in spite of tumour mass occupying most of the oesophageal lumen. The leiomyosarcoma was managed successfully with surgical resection and adjuvant radiotherapy. A previously healthy 63-year-old man was referred to the Tetsujinkai Eniwa hospital following the sudden development of acute abdominal pain. Presentation of the case of one patient with a leiomyosarcoma of the spermatic cord with presence of numerous giant cells, a remarkably unusual finding. Presence of this type of cells, as well as their positivity for histiocytic markers in immunohistochemical staining, raise considerable problems for the differential diagnosis of this neoplasia with malignant fibrous histiocytomas, which probably requires a different, more aggressive therapeutical approach.

In a 69-year-old female patient a moderately pleomorphic spindle-cell thyroid tumour measuring 5 cm in diameter was initially misinterpreted as primary anaplastic thyroid carcinoma. During clinical investigations to elucidate the cause of severe anaemia, 17 months later an ulcerated duodenal leiomyosarcoma was detected and removed by duodenopancreatectomy.
