PURPOSE: To describe a case of interface fluid after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and review the literature on this rare complication after LASIK.
METHODS: We present a case report and literature review. Articles for this review were chosen from electronic database and manual literature searches. MEDLINE searches were made from 1990 to April 2002, using the key words "interface fluid" and "LASIK."
RESULTS: A 40-year-old man had uneventful LASIK for residual refractive error from previous penetrating keratoplasty in his right eye. Diffuse lamellar keratitis began 1 day postoperatively

Treatment research with opioid-dependent populations has not traditionally distinguished between those dependent on prescription opioids versus dependent upon heroin. Evidence suggests there is a substantial subpopulation of individuals with opioid dependence resulting largely or exclusively from prescription opioid use. Eleven chronic hair pullers, 11 subjects with obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), and 11 subjects with a non-OCD anxiety disorder were assessed with structured interviews and the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). Eighty two patients with bulimia nervosa were managed by providing them with supervision in the use of a highly structured cognitive behavioral self-help manual. Their progress was assessed in an open clinical trial. The 67 patients who completed the course of self-help experienced considerable benefit; the frequency of bulimic episodes and self-induced vomiting decreasing by 80% and 79%, respectively. We diagnosed and classified a diverse sample of 133 narcotic addicts using DSM-III criteria.
