There are many types of skin disease that fit into the classification of cutaneous lymphoma, but mycosis fungoides is by far the most common of this group. It is a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of T-cell origin that presents in the skin. Mycosis fungoides often evolves for years without a specific diagnosis because it can present as an eczematous or psoriasiform eruption. Patients identified in the early stages and treated appropriately have a normal life expectancy.

Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery is a congenital malformation that can induce myocardial ischemia impacting the quality of life and even leading to sudden cardiac death. Identifying ischemia and high-risk features is of paramount importance to guide therapy; however, the former represents a clinical challenge. The use of multimodality cardiac imaging with coronary computed tomography and myocardial perfusion imaging represents a non-invasive strategy to identify ischemia, quantify ischemic burden, and aid in risk stratification.

The diagnosis of anomalous origin of the left main coronary artery from the right coronary sinus with an interarterial course in children and adolescents is considered life-threatening and clinical guidelines recommend surgical correction. The prognostic implications of this diagnosis in adults are not clear. This anomaly may present in adults as sudden cardiac death or may be diagnosed incidentally. Treatment of this anomaly in adults should be tailored individually taking into account the clinical presentation and patient characteristics.

Intranasal glial heterotopia is an uncommon congenital nasal lesion of neuroectoderm origin. Involvement of the parapharyngeal space is extremely rare. We present a case report of a newborn with life-threatening respiratory distress and feeding difficulty caused by a nasal glial heterotopia in a rare location involving the nasopharynx and parapharyngeal space. Surgical treatment was done in a staged fashion, involving image guidance for recurrence. Other diagnostic and treatment options are reviewed in the light of current literature.

The authors report a rare case of primary urethral/paraurethral adenocarcinoma in a female patient. The tumor was first detected at the external and internal urethral orifices, with later recurrences in the region of the urinary bladder neck. Histology did not reveal the exact origin of the malignancy. The patient was treated by transurethral resection, regularly repeated during the 3-6-monthly checks. Five years after diagnosis she remains symptom free and has a high quality of life.

In female patients affected by congenital coagulation disorders haemorrhagic corpus luteum must be considered for the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen. We report the complication in a 22-year-old woman with type 3 von Willebrand's disease who presented with abdominal pain and haemorrhagic shock. Along with adequate factor VIII replacement therapy oral contraceptive treatment is the key for the management of this potentially life-threatening complication and the long-term prevention of future bleeding episodes of this origin.

The actual symptomatology alone does not provide direct evidence. The second criterion, the independent onset of an episode, may be difficult to reconstruct. However, a spontaneous and unexpected end is an impressive event and an argument for endogenicity even in cases of apparently reactive or neurotic origin.

Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA), or Bland-White-Garland syndrome, is a rare but life-threatening congenital cardiac defect. Its clinical presentation, particularly in infants, is often nonspecific and can be mistaken for common conditions like myocarditis or dilated cardiomyopathy. We present a case of a 1-month-old infant where the initial presentation strongly suggested viral myocarditis, but characteristic electrocardiographic findings were pivotal in leading to the correct diagnosis of ALCAPA.

Dysphagia is a common symptom in patients with head and neck cancer that can significantly impact health outcomes and quality of life. The origin of dysphagia in these patients is often multifactorial, making diagnosis and management especially complex. The evaluating otolaryngologist should be well versed with the patient's neoplasm, comorbidities, and treatment history alongside dysphagia-specific imaging modalities. Management is often dynamic, requiring frequent monitoring, interprofessional collaboration, and a variety of supportive and invasive measures to achieve optimal outcomes.

The principal problems to the bioethic of reproduction are exposed. A distinction must be done between the therapy of sterility and the processes for artificial reproduction. The first treatments do not need special rules, being under the laws regarding the medical profession. The second on the contrary need a legal regulation by the Parliament in order to avoid the manipulation of human life at its origin. More attention to values and less emphasis to technical problems is now required.

Periodic hypokalemic paralysis can be of genetic origin or secondary to other causes of hypokalaemia. The thyreotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis (THPP) usually occurs among asian subjects. It is a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency which may lead to life-threatening complications due to hypokalaemia and muscle weakness. The potassium supplementation is followed by a complete recovery after a few hours. We underlined the interest of thyroid assays in patients having an acute muscular paralysis associated with hypokalaemia.

We report a rare coronary anomaly in a 3-month old symptomless infant with an anomalous origin of the left coronary artery, that became manifest during anaesthesia for an ambulatory procedure, leading to circulatory arrest. Precordial stethoscope and pulse oximeter unequivocally showed a circulatory arrest. Even in ambulatory procedures, a presumed healthy patient may quickly develop a life-threatening condition because of occult disease. The successful management of such cases depends on efficient and coordinated teamwork.

The effects of life experience variables on child abuse potential were evaluated in 95 prospectively recruited African American mothers 1 month postpartum. All participants had used opiates or cocaine during pregnancy and were considered high risk for child maltreatment. Abuse potential was assessed with the Child Abuse Potential Inventory, a widely used and psychometrically sound measure with demonstrated predictive validity. Conceptually relevant measures of life experiences and demographic data were obtained from hospital records, maternal self-report, and clinician-administered interviews.
