Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) has been widely adopted in institutions with sufficiently skilled practitioners. This technique requires attentive dissection around the superior mesenteric vein (SMV) and artery. Dissection around the SMV and Henle's trunk is one of the key aspects of right hemicolectomy (RHC) ; adhesions and fibrosis around these vessels may impede LPD in patients with a history of RHC. PATIENTS AND METHODS: From January 2007 to January 2014, 62 patients underwent isolated tricuspid valve surgery. Forty-five patients (73%) had undergone previous heart operations. Patients with Swyer syndrome, "XY gonadal dysgenesis", have fibrosed gonads with a significant risk of developing germ cell tumours. During radiological assessment, a 17-year-old female with Swyer syndrome showed mildly enlarged gonads that were removed laparoscopically and proved pathologically to be bilateral gonadoblastomas. In addition, the right sided lesion showed overgrowth by dysgerminoma. The patient was further treated with combination chemotherapy and she was in complete remission for three years.
