BACKGROUND: Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) (Magtrace®) is a non-radioactive liquid tracer that can stay in the sentinel lymph nodes for 30 days. Injection of SPIO at time of primary breast surgery where upfront sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is not immediately indicated allows for a return to theatre if pathology then identifies invasive disease. SLNB is associated with paraesthesia, pain, seroma formation and lymphoedema risk. Hence, our study aims to assess the use of SPIO to avoid upfront SLNB in breast surgery for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and prophylaxis.

BACKGROUND: Here, we present a retrospective study conducted from 2009 to 2018, which showed the presence of unilateral uptake of radioactive tracer on 99mTc thyroid scintigraphy scan in 15 patients with Graves' disease.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: All these patients had either clinical features of Graves' disease or elevated thyroid hormone levels along with ultrasonographic features, showing either normal thyroid gland or diffuse thyroiditis. We report the case of a gentleman referred with apparent worsening function in a hydronephrotic left-sided pelvic kidney. Imaging with Tc-99m-Mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG 3) in 1999, showed that the left kidney contributed 46% of renal function with no evidence of obstruction. Three years later, repeat scanning showed ectopic kidney function had decreased to 20% and with worsening pain, nephrectomy had been suggested. Blood flow was measured under the ischial tuberosites of seated individuals during electrical stimulation of the gluteus maximus muscles. Eight able-bodied and six spinal cord injured subjects were studied. Muscle blood flow was measured via radioactive tracer (133xenon) clearance. BACKGROUND: Current guidelines recommend harvesting ≥3 sentinel nodes if sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) alone is considered after neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) for initially node-positive (cN+) breast cancer. We attempted to investigate factors predicting one or two sentinel lymph nodes harvested to be accepted for SLNB alone after NAT in initially cN + patients.
METHODS: Overall, 157 patients who received NAT (clinically T1-3/N1-2/M0) and underwent SLNB were identified from a prospectively maintained database. Significant factors were identified using a multiple logistic regression model.

OBJECTIVE: Disadvantages of the combined sentinel lymph node (SLN) procedure with radiocolloid and blue dye in vulvar cancer are the preoperative injections of radioactive tracer in the vulva, posing a painful burden on the patient. Intraoperative transcutaneous imaging of a peritumorally injected fluorescent tracer may lead to a one-step procedure, while maintaining high sensitivity.
