Application of HRCT-based radiomics to predict interstitial lung disease for juvenile dermatomyositis.

BACKGROUND: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a frequently observed pulmonary manifestation in juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM), and may significantly impact patient outcomes. Therefore, early lung involvement identification is essential. Radiomics is a new image analysis technique and might offer valuable information for the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease in juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM-ILD). METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of 56 children with JDM, and all participants gave written informed consent. These children were divided into the JDM group (n = 32) and JDM-IL…

Enhancing Radiomics Reproducibility: Deep Learning-Based Harmonization of Abdominal Computed Tomography (CT) Images.

We assessed the feasibility of using deep learning-based image harmonization to improve the reproducibility of radiomics features in abdominal CT scans. In CT imaging, harmonization adjusts images from different institutions to ensure consistency despite variations in scanners and acquisition protocols. This process is essential because such differences can lead to variability in radiomics features, affecting reproducibility and accuracy. Harmonizing images minimizes these inconsistencies, supporting more reliable and clinically applicable results across diverse settings. A pre-trained harmoni…

Developing a Radiomics Atlas Dataset of normal Abdominal and Pelvic computed Tomography (RADAPT).

Atlases of normal genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics have been published in an attempt to understand the biological phenotype in health and disease and to set the basis of comprehensive comparative omics studies. No such atlas exists for radiomics data. The purpose of this study was to systematically create a radiomics dataset of normal abdominal and pelvic radiomics that can be used for model development and validation. Young adults without any previously known disease, aged > 17 and ≤ 36 years old, were retrospectively included. All patients had undergone CT scanning for…

Predicting regional tau accumulation with machine learning-based tau-PET and advanced radiomics.

INTRODUCTION: Alzheimer's disease is partially characterized by the progressive accumulation of aggregated tau-containing neurofibrillary tangles. Although the association between accumulated tau, neurodegeneration, and cognitive decline is critical for disease understanding and clinical trial design, we still lack robust tools to predict individualized trajectories of tau accumulation. Our objective was to assess whether brain imaging biomarkers of flortaucipir-positron emission tomography (PET), in combination with clinical and genomic measures, could predict future pathological tau accumula
