The nucleotide sequence of a blaKPC-2-harboring plasmid (pKPCAPSS) from Klebsiella pneumoniae ST273 isolated in Saint Petersburg, Russia, from a patient with history of recent travel to Vietnam is presented. This 127,970-bp plasmid possessed both IncFII and IncR replicons. blaKPC-2 was localized on a hypothetical mobile element. This element was flanked by 38-bp inverted Tn3 repeats and included a Tn3-specific transposase gene, macrolide resistance operon (mphA-mrx-mphR), and a fragment of blaTEM with unique polymorphisms.

Plasmid analysis of 46 strains of Shigella species confirmed the view about heterogeneity and variability of plasmids composition in these microorganisms. On the other hand,the presence of low-molecular, multiplicated extrachromosomal replicons, which were stable, was shown. Using them, it was possible to divide the Shigella isolates into two major plasmidovars, characterize them according to repertoire of the most stable plasmids and determine epidemically significant variants during sporadic and outbreak incidence of shigellosis in towns Nizhny Novgorod and Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region).

Data on comparative molecular genetic analysis of pFra plasmids from plague bacillus belonging to either two biovars (antiqua and orientalis) are presented. It was established that during evolution these replicons were rearranged, which resulted in the differences between pFra plasmids of plague bacillus of antiqua biovar (Yersinia pestis 231 and Y. pestis 358/12) and that of orientalis biovar (Y. pestis A1122 and Y. pestis EV). These included inversions of two plasmid DNA regions and size differences of 3 kb.
