We experienced a case of lymph node recurrence from colon cancer with complete response to modulation chemotherapy using low-dose leucovorin and 5-FU. The patient was a 68-year-old male. He underwent sigmoid colon resection for sigmoid colon cancer in October 1993. In June 1994, he complained of left lower abdominal pain. Swelling of retroperitoneal lymph node was detected by CT scan and cytology revealed cancer cells in urine. He was diagnosed as having lymph node recurrence. Intussusception is a rare cause of obstruction in adults and has a variable, non-specific presentation. Adult intussusception is usually associated with an underlying organic pathology, such as a benign or malignant tumour which acts as the lead point. Prolapse of the lead-point mass through the anal canal is an extremely rare presentation with very few reported cases in the literature. We describe a case of a 67-year-old man who presented with rectal prolapse of a large soft tissue mass. CT of the abdomen and barium enema revealed partial intussusception of an upper sigmoid lipomatous polyp.

Giant pseudopolyp formation is an uncommon but well-recognized complication of Crohn's disease. The computed tomography manifestations are described for the first time. Correlation with air-contrast barium enema, as well as colonoscopy, is presented. Computed tomography can be a useful adjunct in the diagnosis as well as management of this disease entity.

Left hemicolectomy is the ideal treatment of sigmoid cancer, but sometimes sigmoidectomy is a safe treatment. We radically treated 102 patients affected by sigmoid cancer: 83 were gross sigmoid cancer treated by left hemicolectomy, 19 were residual cancer after endoscopic polypectomy; of these, 4 underwent left hemicolectomy and 15 underwent sigmoidectomy. We report a case of microcystic/reticular schwannoma of the proximal sigmoid colon in a 61-year-old man. A 12-mm polyp was detected while the patient was undergoing screening for colorectal neoplasm. A 65-year-old man was admitted to our clinic with the chief complaint of gross hematuria and burning on urination. Cystoscopy revealed a papillary broad base tumor on right lateral and posterior wall. Barium enema showed a tumor of sigmoid colon. The other gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts were examined but no tumor lesion could be found. Total cystectomy and partial resection of sigmoid colon were done, and the urinary tract was reconstructed using a Kock continent ileal reservoir. Local recurrence rates for colorectal carcinoma occur in the range from 20% to 35%. For this reason, postoperative radiotherapy was evaluated as a measure to achieve local disease control in the pelvis.
