BACKGROUND/AIMS: To clinically characterise corneal neovascularisation (CVas) with a view to elaborate clinical presentations and to standardise descriptors for clinical evaluation and research.
METHODS: Corneas of 165 patients with CVas due to a variety of corneal pathologies were observed clinically with the slit lamp biomicroscope and photography at different time points over the course of their disease. Parameters assessed included location, depth, length, branching pattern, colour, lipid leakage, nature of blood flow and presence of haemorrhage. A clinical grading of CVas was applied.

Posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy (PPCD) is a rare, bilateral, congenital disorder. It affects endothelial cells and Descemet's membrane. Slit lamp examination of PPCD shows characteristic bilateral endothelial bands, vesicles, and polymorphous opacities at the level of Descemet's membrane and endothelium, which can be accompanied by iridocorneal peripheral adhesions, iris atrophy, and corectopia. For the contactless diagnosis of the human cornea and anterior chamber in clinical routine, two systems have been established besides the slit lamp: the Scheimpflug camera and optical coherence tomography (OCT). A short introduction into these imaging methods is provided along with a comparison with respect to imaging quality and the visibility of relevant ocular structures. We present different examples from special clinical diagnostics such as keratoconus, condition after keratoplasty or tumours in ocular tissue.

Conjunctival inclusion cysts following strabismus surgery are typically treated by surgical excision in a hospital setting. Cysts may be aspirated in the office setting with the aid of a slit lamp, but this approach is associated with recurrence. Thermal cautery and intracyst injection of doxycycline may also be performed in the office. We present 2 cases of conjunctival inclusion cysts treated with isopropyl alcohol injection in an office setting. There was no recurrence at 9 months follow-up.

PURPOSE: To report three cases of rubeola keratitis secondary to measles in unvaccinated adults.
METHODS: We conducted a case series involving three unvaccinated adults admitted to the Department of Infectious Diseases during the mid-2025 nationwide measles outbreak in Vietnam. We report an unusual case of asymptomatic subconjunctival entrapment of a cilium. A 64-year-old man presented with a 3 month history of a painless black line in the conjunctiva of the left eye, and slit-lamp examination revealed a cilium under the conjunctiva. The patient remained asymptomatic without conjunctival edema or hyperemia during a 2 week follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of an asymptomatic cilium inside the subconjunctival space.

A 48-year-old female patient presented to the Ophthalmology Clinic with gradual loss of vision in both eyes over the last year. Upon slit lamp examination, cortical and nuclear opacities of the lens in BE and a 180-degree zonular dehiscence with moderate bilateral superotemporal dislocation of the lens were revealed. After a series of necessary investigations, the patient was admitted for surgery. This case report represents an addition to the diagnosis, challenges and the latest surgical techniques and instruments.

The operator must become familiar with the dangers involved with argon laser photocoagulation. The hazards in the use of the argon laser slit-lamp photocoagulator derive from the same properties of the instrument that make it advantageous for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases: the wavelengths are highly absorbed by blood, and the beam can be focused to a small diameter. Of course complications can be avoided entirely by using applications so light the virtually no effect is obtained; but such an approach, although safe, cannot be therapeutic.
