OBJECTIVE: To describe the ultrasonographic and color Doppler ultrasonographic findings in 2 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome associated with a persistent median artery and to report the frequency of this anatomic variation in healthy volunteers.
METHODS: Two patients with the clinical appearance of carpal tunnel syndrome and 100 wrists and distal forearms of 50 asymptomatic volunteers were examined with ultrasonography and color Doppler ultrasonography. The frequency and size of a persistent median artery and its relationship to median nerve anatomy in the carpal tunnel were evaluated.

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands. A 62-year-old female patient presented with epiphora and was suffering from breathing difficulties. With the diagnostic nasal endoscopy, a mass, originating from right inferior nasal turbinate and filling the entire nasal cavity, was seen. A 40 years old lady presented to us with the complaints of repeated attack of syncope with left sided neck swelling. Ultrasonography, Color Doppler study and arteriography were done which revealed a solid vascular mass in the carotid bifurcation. Mass was resected and histopathology was done. Histopathologic findings were typical of a carotid body tumour. As carotid body tumour is a rare disease. So, we are going to present this in this article.

Ultrasonography is the best method for the screening of early cancer of abdominal parenchymatius organ. No dead angle had been in this field with the convex prove. The compressing method with this convex probe to the two linear pancreatic duct is usefull to detect the clue for diagnosing the early or occult cancer of pancreas. A 56-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of amaurosis fugax. The carotid angiogram showed irregularly stenotic lesions of the left and right internal carotid arteries (ICAs), suggestive of dissection. Follow-up evaluation was performed by transoral carotid ultrasonography (TOCU) with contrast enhancement (CE), which yielded better vessel lumen and intramural hematoma visualization than color Doppler imaging. CE-TOCU is useful for evaluating ICA dissections that extends to the high cervical portion.

The differentiation of pseudo-occlusion from complete internal carotid artery occlusion may have important clinical consequences for patients with the former tend not to benefit from reconstructive surgery. The Authors report a case in which color-Doppler duplex-scanner revealed a persisting string-like lumen that was not demonstrated by angiography. The Authors believe that ultrasonography may in future permit the reliable differentiation of pseudo-from complete carotid occlusion, thereby reducing the need for angiography.
