Primary vaginal malignant melanoma is rare, with < 250 reported cases to date. It accounts for < 1% of all melanomas in women, < 10% of all female genital tract melanomas, and < 3% of all vaginal malignancies. Its clinical behavior is notoriously more aggressive than that of cutaneous and vulvar melanoma, with a 5-year survival rate ranging from 5% to 25%. Tumor size is the strongest predictor of survival, whereas tumor thickness is a weak predictor of survival. A case of F.I.G.O. stage I vaginal melanoma encircling and embracing the entire circumference of the middle third of the vagina is de

A case of urinary retention due to a female paraurethral leiomyoma is reported. The patient was a 67-year-old female who visited our clinic complaining of urinary retention. Urinary sediment and infravenous pyelography revealed no abnormal findings. An oval-shaped mass was palpated at the anterior vaginal wall. The tumor was 7 X 6 cm in size, elastic hard in consistency, irregular surfaced and well movable. Computed tomography revealed a calcified tumor in the urethrovaginal septum extending over all the urethral length from the bladder neck to the urethral meatus. Cystourethroscopic examinati

The author describes the characteristics of vaginal fibromas, as observed in one personal case and after a rview of the published literature. These tumors, which affect women during the period of genital activity, are not of frequent occurrence, and the principal signs are dyspareunia and metrorrhagia. The histological appearance of the tumours is very similar to that of uterine fibromas, but their pathogenicity appears to be different, and they progress in a similar manner to that of benign tumors. Because of the existence of a cleavage line they can be easily enucleated, the main therapeutic

BACKGROUND: Natural conception in patients with multiple primary neoplasms (MPNs) is exceedingly rare, particularly those involving metachronous triple cancers of the reproductive, respiratory, and endocrine systems. This article reports the case of a young female patient who suffered from three primary neoplasms successively covering the three major systems of the ovary, lung, and thyroid, and achieved successful natural conception and delivery through comprehensive management by a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). This case provides a valuable reference for the diagnosis and treatment of simila

AIMS: Aggressive angiomyxoma of pelvic parts is a distinctive soft tissue tumour that chiefly involves the vulvar and perineal region of female patients. Several previous reports have demonstrated oestrogen receptor (ER) and/or progesterone receptor (PR) positivity in this neoplasm. The aim of this study was to confirm whether ER and/or PR positivity is present in aggressive angiomyxoma. We also wished to ascertain whether positivity may be found in the stromal cells of normal vulval skin and in other lesions at this site that can cause diagnostic confusion with aggressive angiomyxoma.

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) is a benign myofibroblastic proliferation frequently encountered in the breast but rarely affects anogenital mammary-like glands, where it typically presents as small nodules. We report a rare case of a 38-year-old woman who developed a 95 × 60 × 60-mm vulvar mass 4 months after undergoing bilateral mastectomy and axillary excisions for histologically confirmed PASH. Pelvic MRI revealed a well-circumscribed, hypointense lesion in the posterolateral vaginal wall. Wide local excision was performed. Histopathology demonstrated a dense collagenous strom

BACKGROUND: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects multiple systems. Patients with SLE are prone to a variety of malignancies, especially neoplasms of the female reproductive tract. Synchronous tumors, considered to involve multiple sites, are rare in the female reproductive tract. There are hardly any reports of SLE with synchronous reproductive tract tumors.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report the occurrence of two to three reproductive tract tumors in two women with SLE. A 52-year-old woman was diagnosed with vulvar cancer and cervical cancer. Another woma

Uterine tumors resembling sex-cord tumors are a rare group of tumors with uncertain etiology and histogenesis. The sex-cord tumors are classified into two groups. The first group includes endometrial stromal tumors with foci of sex cord differentiation less than 50% while the second group is composed predominantly or exclusively by sex cord-like elements. We report the case of a middle-aged woman who presented with heavy vaginal bleeding with initial ultrasound findings suggestive of uterine leiomyoma. There was no improvement noticed after a trial of medical treatment; hence, the surgical tre

BACKGROUND There are few reports of breast cancer cases with uterine metastases; among them, myometrium is more frequently involved than endometrium. The majority of breast cancer metastases to endometrium are lobular type, and there have been only 5 reported cases of ductal type since 1984. Here, we describe a new case of invasive ductal carcinoma with metastases to endometrium and isolated presentation of abnormal uterine bleeding, in addition to reviewing the existing literature on other similar cases. CASE REPORT The patient was a 51-year-old Persian woman with no remarkable past medical o

Sertoli-Leydig cell tumours (SLCTs) are rare sex cord stromal neoplasms of ovary accounting for less than 0.5% of all ovarian tumours. These are found in women of all age groups (2-75 y), but are most common in reproductive age group with an average age of 25 y. Mostly these are unilateral, confined to ovaries and usually stage I at the time of clinical diagnosis. The common presenting complaints in these patients are due to either mass occupying lesion (mostly pelviabdominal mass and/or pain) or hormonal production (mostly androgen and more rarely oestrogen). Androgenic manifestations, seen i

Granulosa tumors (GT) are rare neoplasms, difficult to diagnose in a preoperative stage. We report a set of seven patients affected by GT admitted in Amiens University Hospital, collated with a review of the literature (n=379). Our aim was to report the clinical and radiological characteristics of GT, in order to improve preoperative diagnosis. The average age of the subjects was 50.8 years old among the bibliographical search, and 37years old for the observations reported in Amiens. The principal circumstances of diagnosis were vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain and infertility. Ultrasound was

BACKGROUND: Malignant transformation of endometriosis in extraovarian sites remains rare. Furthermore, the process is not definitely understood.
CASE PRESENTATION: Herein, we report the case of a 40-year-old premenopausal nulligravida woman who presented with vaginal bleeding and who was finally diagnosed with a vaginal cancer originating from endometriosis and with a synchronous endometrial cancer. A gynecologic examination revealed a multiple polypoid mass on the posterior vaginal fornix. Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the pelvis showed two masses abutting respectively on the anterior uterin

Leiomiosarcoma of the vagina is a very rare condition and that is why there is no standard treatment of this disease. We describe a 35 year old woman with vaginal leiomyosarcoma to whom was accomplished a complete surgical treatment and no postoperative radiation or chimiotherapy. Tumor recurrence was not detected for the last 6 months.

Aggressive angiomyxoma is a rare tumour, which presents as a painless expanding mass in the vulvo-vaginal region. It usually occurs in 2nd to 3rd decades of life. It behaves like a low-grade sarcoma with high propensity for local spread and recurrence and can involve vulva, perineum, vagina and urinary bladder. It is difficult to differentiate clinically this tumour from other mesenchymal tumours occurring in this region. Microscopically it must be differentiated from malignant tumours with myxoid change, like liposarcoma and myxoid leiomyosarcoma. Hence, histopathologic examination has a cent
