OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate a selection and programmatic intervention designated 'Conditional Admissions' (CA), which is intended to expand access to medical education for individuals from under-represented ethnic, racial and rural groups. Further aims were to establish principles of practice designed to increase access for under-represented groups based on an empirical comparison of programmatic changes made to CA in 2005, and to quantify the costs associated with its implementation.
METHODS: Data for all students admitted between 1999 and 2009 (n = 3227) were compiled; these in

Data fragmentation, lack of standardization, and incomplete clinical context limit the utility and reuse of datasets in biomedical research. Core facilities (shared resources) generate a large portion of research data and are well positioned to implement FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data practices to align with the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy. This article highlights strategies for incorporating FAIR data practices into core facility workflows. Core facilities generate diverse data types across multiple platforms. However, variability in data formats and

The rapid expansion of the biopharmaceutical industry, driven by monoclonal antibodies, cell and gene therapies, and mRNA vaccines, demands a workforce equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge, practical competence, and critical thinking. Traditional lecture-based instruction in Biotechnology Pharmaceutics usually falls short in cultivating these attributes. This narrative review, drawing on a structured synthesis of recent literature (2015-2026) and the authors' 10 years of front-line teaching experience, addresses the following research question: What pedagogical innovations hold the greate

Early Support Hubs have recently become widespread in the UK and aim to provide community-based, easy access mental health support to young people aged 11-25, integrating a variety of forms of support. Evidence is needed on the role such services aim to fulfil in addressing young people's mental health needs, perceived good practice in their operations and challenges encountered in achieving this. In order to understand this, we conducted individual interviews with 24 staff members from eight Hubs across England; data was analysed using codebook thematic analysis. Several structural-, organisa

The Internal Medicine (IM) Match into subspecialty fellowship has grown in complexity and competitiveness with record numbers of applicants and applications submitted, evolving specialty-specific expectations, and introduction of preference signaling among contributing factors. Insufficient available positions relative to interest already leave many qualified candidates unmatched and Graduate Medical Education reform needed to confront the looming physician deficit in the face of an aging, medically complex general population may further destabilize the fellowship Match process. Advising has h

Exercise physiologists (EPs) are increasingly recognised for their role in supporting people with lived experience of mental health challenges through structured, evidence-based exercise interventions. Despite strong evidence for their impact on health outcomes, routine integration of EPs into mental health systems remains limited. This Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)-endorsed Consensus Statement aims to define the scope, best-practice principles and integration strategies for EPs working across diverse mental health settings. Methods for development of this Consensus Statement in

Anxiety and depression affect over 500 million people globally. Despite the availability of effective low-cost treatments, like those provided by NHS talking therapies (TT), over half of patients relapse within a year, highlighting the need to co-develop solutions to maintain wellbeing and optimise healthcare. This study used a multiphase participatory design to synthesise evidence on relapse prevention and collaboratively develop evidence-informed strategies for sustained mental health following low-intensity treatment. The three-phase project began by synthesising evidence from diverse sourc

BACKGROUND: The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to low-income women and their children up to age 5. WIC participants' weight is measured and discussed at appointments, creating an opportunity for weight stigma to be transmitted. Weight stigma has recently received attention within the WIC setting because experiencing weight stigma in health care is associated with delays in care and health care avoidance. This study aimed to fill a gap in our understanding of WIC s

IMPORTANCE: Health care policies often fail to achieve their goals due to implementation challenges attributable to workforce constraints, fragmented health information systems, and administrative complexity. This Special Communication proposes a framework for how artificial intelligence (AI) tools could support effective health care policy implementation, using the implementation of Medicaid work requirements under the Budget Reconciliation Act of 2025 as an example.
OBSERVATIONS: Opportunities for AI-augmented health care policy implementation include executing key policy processes, such as

INTRODUCTION: Medical migration represents the movement of healthcare professionals from one country to another. The migration of Romanian doctors has evolved as a captivating and diverse phenomenon in the complex framework of global healthcare. As Romania struggles with its healthcare issues, many of its experienced medical personnel travel to foreign areas, lured by various factors ranging from economic concerns to the desire to gain clinical experience. The aim of this study is to elucidate the dynamics of this migratory phenomenon among physicians from Cluj County, Romania, between 2017 an

INTRODUCTION: Pacific health providers have worked to improve access to care and outcomes for Pacific communities in Aotearoa New Zealand since the 1980s. Although now an integral part of the health system (their role exemplified during the COVID-19 pandemic), providers' characteristics and service models are poorly understood and under theorised.
AIM: This study aimed to strengthen evidence about Pacific health providers for policy development by examining the evolution of the sector, identifying key provider organisational features and service delivery patterns, and developing a framework t

BACKGROUND: Integrated care addresses system fragmentation, especially for people with disabilities who require support across multiple domains. Most models focus on healthcare, overlooking social and environmental factors that hinder health management for people with disabilities. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)'s biopsychosocial approach integrates these broader factors, but its application in integrated care remains underexplored.
OBJECTIVE: This scoping review aimed to explore the application of the ICF in research on integrated care, informed
